You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
1hr30/50km on the turbo, 30 min "proper" Yoga afterwards (never want to do it, always feel so much better when I have) followed by late athlete's breakfast of bacon and egg sanger 🙂
Also Garmin registered a FTP upgrade (after slogging up the 'grade' in zwift) to 246. That's only 8 off my best ever. I've not been trying to improve that, but it's come up 20 during the 100 days.
@piemonster - it's very sociable in pace and chat but has been great for me to have a regular slot in the diary. My running has come on in leaps and bounds (no pun intended). Give me a shout if you're planning to come along. Whereabouts are you?
Always enjoy @reeksy pictures but they do make me pine for summer!
Good thing I didn't post the photo of that beach then!
Day 98 was brilliant. Gravity Eden bike park. 350m ascent over 9km of lovely climbing for a long swooping blue downhill. Then a repeat climb with the eldest lad so we could hammer a natural janky black trail. Then a sneaky uplift so we could do that track again it was so damn good.

99 Not Out 🙂 And out but not out out. Sloppy fun, just deciding what to do for the 100th day. Maybe risk a run off the treadmill.

Managed to fit in some proper re-hydration as well. Dirty Boar Burger just out of sight 🙂

The last week has been a bit of a mixed bag, with Jnr home, we’ve got into a habit of running first thing each morning but I managed to get out on the bike for rides on Monday and Wednesday and I have also had a couple of weights sessions thrown in the mix.
We’ve had family here since Thursday so it’s been difficult to get out, but we’re now family free over Christmas which is unusual. I’m now considering starting the Festve 500 tomorrow as I have a decent chance of completing it. Weather here today is perfect so I’m hopeful for the same tomorrow.
Ended up out and about a bit more on foot as days off seemed to coincide with mega winds.
Out for a bit of a run this lunchtime after braving the supermarket. Currently cooking some home made veggie and a set of tomato sausage rolls.
Working tomorrow but will get out in the evening for finale!
100km on the road bike today; pretty much all of it in zone 2.
It's my 56th birthday tomorrow, so a gentle social ride to a cafe with friends ?
On target to complete the 24 days of Christmas workouts that I posted earlier. For short work times, its been surprisingly tough at times. In particular, the lots of lunges one had me struggling to get out of a Starbucks chair the day after!
Christmas day dog walk has been planned and looks like being about 7-8 miles with a forecast of mist ....
Day 100 done! 6.27k run before work. Actually managed to find a couple of different places to get stitch!! New year is sort my diet put time, need to condition myself better.
Well done everyone, and merry Christmas, enjoy your day off. Apart from @scotroutes who needs to do 5k!!
@jimmy will do, got a lot of travelling over Xmas but should get along mid January. I'm over the water in Fife. Usually run Ochils/Lomonds.
Fartlek run, felt good so carried on 🙂 Could have pushed quite a lot harder but did not want to injure myself on the last day.
HR pretty good as well until last couple of km. Legs felt good. 100 days definitely works.
Some stats coming later. I know I know, try and manage your increasing excitement 🙂

Day 100. After a solid day of driving there was time only for a wander along a windswept beach for an hour.
Was supposed to be riding Jack Moir's local trails tomorrow but there's too high fire risk.
Well done everyone. I've had an easy run of it and am aware just how much harder it is to do in winter.

Was about to go for a swim but an invite arrived for a brief gravelly bike ride, which feels more appropriate. Heading soon, nearly done...
day 100
finished off with a 50 miler this morning. all good
The exact day that Scotland will be blanketed by snow...

A couple of obligatory Ryvoan pics

I had to wait until the Police car had moved away for this one*

*Missing person - makes me consider my Spot Tracker again
Loch Morlich beach - surprisingly not very busy.

Boring finish from me with an after work gym session but two goals achieved. 1. somehow completed this challenge without keeling over and 2. deadlifted over twice my body weight. Now to chill and check out the pics from people finishing up the 100 days with actual bike rides and fun stuff like that
CC, footbridge (there's a joke in there)

Another old ruin

Cracking work everyone. Have a well earned rest tomorrow.
I've been finishing up with a few days on the MTB. 40km today in the woods mixed with some intervals and sprints. In all, I missed a few days for sickness and for a flight but did pretty well. Arrived at the "endlessly hungry" phase later than usual but then suddenly got to the four mince pies a day point two weeks ago.
Imagine this policy back in Scotland, you'd never ride!

Quick stat-age. Back from the pub tho so could be total nonsense. Downloaded from Garmin Connect and then Excel'd to death via a mighty pivot table 🙂
I had three targets at the start of this challenge:
1. Lose the 3kg I'd put on over the summer. Achieved just about but would like to lose a bit more. Dry Jan and post Xmas gluttony-delete should do that. Had an old man health check and while all was good ('you're not dead yet), some creeping of metrics around BP and cholesterol that I'd not seen before so that target does have some real world validity (less booze/crap food has to be a good thing)
2. 5km under 30/10km under 60. I am no runner. Not even close. Middle aged jogging at best. Managed both of those and - better still - no injuries so far. Outside 10km booked for March and looking to match or beat those treadmill numbers.
3. Flexibility / Core. Harder to measure but defo more stretchy and a lot less pain in lower back and shoulders. More to do tho, do not find it easy or interesting but can feel the results.
This thread has been a great way to keep motivated. Thanks to all for posting and keep b*ggering on. I'm not sure that stats tell me much other than that's the most I've run in a year (in < 100 days) ever and MTBing is always going to be my no.1 activity. Oh and the reason my MTB HR is so low in my Epix2 refuses to accept I'm blowing it out of my a.... and records 120BPM when I know it's 160+. I confirmed that with a chest based HR, but I hate wearing it outside so I'll just have to pretend I'm really fit or very lazy.
Right, cheese.
Will be back on it tomorrow tho. 8am Turbo booked in. Hangover cure and set myself up for, well, more cheese...
Who else is carrying on (apart from @scotroutes who is clearly going for a WR 🙂 )
95 kms ride today. Got the traditional Christmas swim tomorrow in the Atlantic. Note to self: stay in bed.
And I still had to do my 5km

Done
Meant to be out for an hour but got "lost" in the Midlothian back roads, with an epic headwind and a puncture, and an essential festive pint with two games of pool. 3 hours later, ticked this off. Great stuff, well done everyone.

Working but got a 30minute ride in delivering some cards and presents. Well done everyone and have a good Christmas and new year break.
Some stats to round it off.

I think I've managed to get the right balance of cardio this year. Not really lost any weight, but Mrs S reckons I've none to lose anyway. My only real niggle is a sore left calf muscle and that's from the Marcothon running rather than anything specific to this particular challenge. I reckon I'll skip running for 2/3 weeks in January to give it some recovery time.
A big WELL DONE to all those who participated, especially those who made it all the way through. I hope some of you have developed some (good) new habits as a result.
Thanks again to @munrobiker for starting us off on this journey all those years ago and for kicking off the 2024 challenge again.
And I think we should have a vote on whether @reeksy should be made to start his 100 day challenge on 16th April next year.
Yesterday was midnight yoga after i finished wrapping the pressies
today was a 7k yomp round the misty local woods to try and knacker out the kids

its been tough, but ive managed it quite well this year some great rides, mostly lical night rides and sunday rides with my eldest 2 a few , some nice runs -5k ish is my happy place, would've liked time for sone longer mtb rides, tho! skateboarding at lunchtime in Camden skatepark has been a great one for me, even though i suck at it.
Well done everyone And if you dropped a few here or there don't sweat it.
now time for a beer!
A lot of better efforts than mine. I managed 32 days riding after a couple of viruses and an injury took me out for a while, though I did manage 8,001 meters of climbing, so should make the summit of Everest before the end of the year.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Yesterday I woke up and I just wasn’t feeling it for the Festive 500 so went out for a run as usual, the final effort of this year’s challenge.
The family had decided that they were going out shopping so at lunchtime, I decided that I was going to make a start of the F500 and went out for a ride. Just shy of 57 miles but at least it was a start.
Merry Christmas to everyone who has had a go this year and wishing you all health and happiness in the coming year.
Feeling the need to run tmrow.
Does a 15km dog walk count ?
Had a lovely Christmas walk except for when he barked at a poor lad on a bike (no idea why he barked at him). Other than that he was brilliantly behaved.
Didn't overeat or drink yesterday so ready for more walking and some weights
15km definitely counts in my book!
Didn't have much time yesterday, but always do something on 25th so both an extension and existing tradition. Jumped on a Rapha 500 "C" ride and, as was totally predictable, it ended up being a "race". 2.6 w/kg advertised, 3.21/kg recorded! 45 mins of that was quite enough followed by some stretching and weights.
Also didn't kick the **** of it yesterday so feeling good for something else today. Weather is a bit grim and I'm just short of my 5000km target for riding so I think a cheat-y flat-ish Zwift might get me there with other rides I've planned until end of the year.
And so it begins... 😉
It would seem so 🙂 No hangover but not much oomph either. Just managed an hour but it took a bit of digging in. Legs feel very tired. No cardio tomorrow as annual "big wet Welsh ride" on Sat although - whisper it- for the first time in 4 years forecast is not for sideways rain and 50 MPH winds.
Best thing about that exercise today tho was rummaged in the 0% cupboard for an Erdinger, poured it, threw the bottle away only to find a HPA had somehow slipped into the alcohol free section! Ah well, in the glass now, best drink it!
Two days without proper exercise and my HRV is...not happy.
A day of uplifts at a new to me venue should solve that I guess.

Been quietly getting in with this as things have been stressful at work and at home. Had a very slow start due to illness but was out doing 30min walks. I ploughed through till a couple of colds in December means I missed a few days so probably hit 92 days. I did cheat a bit when I had been out surveying all day and clocked up 15k steps but in my eyes that’s ok
My running has improved from 5km absolute max to cover my first 7k, 8k and 10km runs since 2006.
going to try and keep up with 5x30mins max as everyday is awkward but I’ll try and get in slightly longer runs and a couple of longer rides in too. I did it last year but didn’t get the same out of it as I did this year. Definitely have a more positive outlook on life and feel fitter and more keen to be active.
fair play to everyone else who really smashed out the miles/hours
Anyone carried on? I expect @scotroutes is already planning his 1000th day already 🙂
I've signed up for the Gloucester 10km end March. It's a flat route, but I've never run a 10km "race' before so I wanted something easy to pace. I've put Garmin in the coaching chair and it's created a 3 runs/week workout plan that already looks nasty. Maybe I was a bit ambitious with my goal time for finishing.
As I'm doing that and continuing with the Yoga, may as well see if I can keep the streak going. No issue over Xmas as had plenty of time and got 3 decent MTB rides in as well. Might be trickier once I'm working again next week. Also being away for 4 days in Alicante end Jan. Shall take running shoes.
I'll give myself the day off April 1st after the race.. until then keep b*ggering on I think.
I'm pretty much carrying on.
Missed Xmas day due to being in the road for 10 hours but plugging away since then. No goals or aims in particular.
If I didn't have a goal, not sure I'd be motivated to carry on. Currently I quite enjoy thinking "what shall I do today" and I've done enough Yoga YT I can generally put my own routine together if I'm bored of watching the screen.
Depending on how hard/time consuming the running is, plan is still to rejoin the Gym just for the classes- only if I think I can fit them in in the day somehow. I'm sure it'd be worth it- especially Yoga/Pilates etc where having a real instructor would definitely improve my form.
My "goal" is just to carry on carrying on. I think it's just a pattern for me now. I completed my Marcothon (with the help of a treadmill) and my end-of-year stats looked thusly.

I'm just back from a dip in Loch Morlich but will likely do some weights/yoga later. No running for 2/3 weeks though.

Top Stat-age that @scotroutes!
Why not running? Injured? I really REALLY need to do the stretching/strengthening exercises as I switch to running outside..
Yeah. 5km per day, every day seems to have taken its toll on my left knee/shin. It's no more running than I normally do over the course of a week but I'd usually throw in a couple of longer runs and therefore have non-running days. I'll get back to that again after a wee break from it. Pedalling is still ok though...
Anyone doing DoddieAid? Have joined a team for that to keep things going.
Made it to the end and finished on Xmas eve with a very mild day on the bike around Dunkeld, but with tight hips that ended the ride. Couple of days with well over half an hour stretching sorted that and kicked off another 100 days with a slight tweak of at least half an hour of exercise plus at least 10 minutes stretching every day.
Really felt the benefits over the past few months so well done and thank you to everyone else who was on the 100 day wagon 🙂
Anyone still going? I don't think i've missed a day yet.
I've got 900km riding, 25km running, 10 weights sessions done in 2025 so far.
Excellent efforts @reeksy @scotroutes
I've missed about 4 I think. Two with a proper five star snotter of a cold. 2 after big rides when I couldn't be bothered. Trying to manage getting lots of riding in to be ready for Spring, with a running 'race'* coming up end March. Definitely ridden more outside this year and ignored the turbo, but logged many, many miles on the treadmill.
What I haven't been doing is so much Yoga. Defo need to get back into that and make it more of a habit than a when I make myself do it because I think I should.
*it's a race for many runners, but for me it's "get round without dying"
Yep, still going. On day 166. Yesterday was the closest to skipping a day as starting running again has cause some very unpleasant hip/sciatica pain but thankfully managed 40 minutes of stretching last night and will do 2x20 minute stretches again today.
Its definitely making differences too and is now just a habit to do something even if it is just a walk.
THREAD RESURRECTION?
Is it too early to open this vault again?
I’m stuck on a long business trip in dog-f-nowhere and feeling like I need a bit of inspiration.
I know we’re still a while away (16 Sept) but at least I can dream of reactivating Zwift and some late night downward dog in the company of Cassandra.
Anyone up for this again?
PS - what day are you up to now @scotroutes?
@bonni - today is day 812
It's my intention to keep this going a bit longer so I should be up for this years 100 days.
A ripple of applause 👏
I'm probably not alone in needing a kick up the arse (there's a health MOT coming up that is going to be bad news) so I'm up for trying to get into some good habits.
Maybe on a new thread so it doesn't get lost.
I reckon I'll do it this year - I do usually do some form of exercise most days. Will pop a reminder on my calendar for 16 Sept and look out for the 2025 thread.
In. Doing the commute on the e bike 5 days a week from here on in (an hour each way) with a view to subbing out the ebike 2-3 days as fitness returns (eventually). This should add some motivation for the weekends and mixing it up at the gym.
Why not?
