The last four days have seen me hit about 120km on the turbo. I am tired. I'm killing about 1000 kCal a hit and work tempo has meant my food intake has been limited to about two coffees, a food box and some toasted cheese each day. I needed to lose the weight though and that is my primary driver in cycling as much as possible, so it's all good.

I plan on resting tomorrow unless I feel like hurting myself more than usual. Maybe I'll walk around Ikea or something instead.

Me,a knackered wife and our bikes tucked in behind the sofa. Day one of a 3-day mini adventure.

I'm a bit behind on updates...

The weather has been all over the place, snow one day, minus 10C the next, then +10C today. It's been hard planning activities!

It had been proper Narnia-like early Thursday but I'd been stuck at home awaiting a furniture delivery. I did manage to out for a short walk in the afternoon while there was still some frost around though.

PXL_20241128_143056682

Today was back to turbo duties, riding virtual Mallorca.

Thursday went to the gym. Did loads more than I thought I'd manage as still feeling shitty.

Tonight stuck to a long dog walk 7.75k.

Thursday was an evening run and another run first thing today.
Yesterday I enjoyed a Poets Day ride in beautiful afternoon sunshine, it was still and warm, a complete contrast to the beginning of the week!

Down in the lakes for a weekend for a catch up with pals. Arrived in time yesterday for a solo stroll up the Old Man, then a Walna Scar loop today. Got drenched and cold, some pictures of views.

Forgot to take a pic but had a fun ride on the MTB. Very leafy, a bit muddy, quite slide-y.  And as it's now 'hardtail season' I was reintroduced to my knees and ankles in a way I'd rather had had a bit more notice about 🙂 Still not feeling great so 600m of climbing was quite enough today.

Can't decide if I'll run or ride tomorrow, but I'll definitely be doing one of them!

30-something km loop up to Glenmore and back, on a bit of a beaver hunt, but also time for coffee and cake.

Struggling with this cold/cough/sore throat lurgy thing that I have at the moment. Managed another 7k dog walk in the slop yesterday but I was knackered afterwards.

I had been busy taking apart a bed then building a new one and fighting with mattresses up and down the stairs though earlier in the day....

Throat feels a bit better this morning and I'm coughing up some right crap so hopefully it's on its way out.

50 minutes on the turbo tonight.

Started a course on MyWhoosh, but something wasn't right. Power didn't seem to registering properly, the course was a bit lumpy but pretty flat really. I was having to put much more power in than it said I was doing. Figured I'd just get to 30 minutes and give up.

28 minutes and about 95% of the course my knee was hurting so stopped to flex it, started pedalling again and it all seemed ok. Did a second lap 10 minutes faster than the first!!

Day 78: After over 300mm of rain in November  Mrs Reeksy made a very wise call for us to check out a waterfall on the first day of school holidays.

Ace walk in hot humid forest and then the most refreshing swim I've had in a while. 10km total...plus we got to watch a snake eat a frog. Which was nice.

Well I did it. I never want to spend that long on a treadmill ever again. And I managed to open a wound on my knee trying to scratch it while running and instead smashing it against the screen! Still going, Zwift + Yoga last night. I should do some Yoga now but instead I'm off to lie down under a crisp packet!

I’ve been running the last few days but today was my Mom’s birthday and she wanted to go for a walk. We took the dogs out over the common and was fortunate to see some wild ponies. Mom had a lovely time and we had lunch in the pub.

Day 81 here:

Absolute rookie error this morning. 5.15am - drove half an hour to meet my riding mate for our scheduled singletrack sweatfest. Got out the shock pump to put some air in and realised i'd forgotten my hip pack. Swiftly followed by realising i'd forgotten my helmet too. Bloody annoying. So I rode with her up the steep firetrails to the highest point in the park, left her to enjoy the good stuff and rolled back to the car. Almost 30 mins of riding.

By the afternoon influenced by another thread, decided i'd punish myself with a hill run, so went out for a short sharp shock on the local trails. 40 mins of running.

Missed a few days posting so not sure where I was up to.

Wednesday was another gym night, did a lot of weights as well as a bit of cardio.

Thursday was an hour on the turbo in the garage.

Tonight I've been rushing around and had to walk the dog for the second time today in the rain.....so just did some relaxing yoga.

MTB tomorrow I think, if I can entice my 16 yr old son out of bed to go riding in the rain....

Edit: although I'd better see what the wind is like tomorrow before going anywhere.

Was going well this week, 2 turbo, 2 runs, 2 yoga, 4 decent hikes with dogs. Then the storm totalled our internet - and looking at the damage going to be for a while - so I had the choice of going outside to ride/run (no thanks) or making something up. Then I remembered I'd downloaded a few workouts to my Garmin so did 20 mins Yoga/20 mins pilates and 20 mins with my few dumbells/kettlebells.

Not missing a day now!

Still on it.

Saturday started with choosing (and cutting down) a Xmas tree before heading back indoors for a weights and treadmill session.

Sundays weather promised much but stayed damp and cold so we made do with a couple of hours walking and then finished off with Day 8 of Marcothon on the treadmill.

That reminds me @ton - I used to ride with someone who would occasionally change his STEM on a ride 🙂

Triple consecutive Zwift now the tree and the fibre cable have parted company. Easy run first light if forecast holds then a proper MTB night ride whatever it's doing. Missed the last two through neshing out as it was 'orrid outside. Been following any indoor run/turbo with 20 mins or a bit more Yoga. Sure it's doing me good, but not sure if I'm any more flexible!

While Core pilates is making me sit down in a hurry 😉  Only a couple of weeks left, no more site visits so hopefully good for a no drama run in until Xmas Eve. I always do something on Xmas day even if it's just an early run/ride. Boxing Day tho, all bets are off!

Gym again tonight. Did some routines on the elliptical and the treadmill. Few weights machines and then we had the great idea to see how close we could get to Steve Redgrave's 2k 500m split time of 1 min 27 seconds.

My mate went first and got 1:44, then I got 1:40. Christ on a boat, I've no idea how Redgrave could go at that pace for another 1500m, I was shagged! Good fun though.

I'd hoped to get out for a long ride on the bike today but it was minus 8C when I woke up and the forecast was for it to briefly reach zero before plummeting again. I therefore did three and a bit hours cycling in (virtual Mallorca), then 40 minutes of treadmill running for Marcothon Day 10.

As a reward, my Endurance Score on Garmin Connect has gone up a bit...

yoga last night and just done another bodyweight workout now

Not been for a run for a couple of weeks, want to get  couple more in before xmas!

and im itching for a proper long MTB ride but  but the weekends are looking crazy busy before Xmas

@scotroutes - 3+ hours on the turbo? That is dedication. I've managed something close when I rode the four horseman route on Zwift but never again!

@andrewl - fab pictures. Very jealous. If I take one later, it'll be of a muddy bike in the dark!

Thanks #alex, it was mainly the really lovely weather that helped with the photos!

I have returned to dull and cloudy conditions at the edge of Sheffield (and work) so photos probably less exciting for now.

Also I think my legs will just allow a stroll today after yesterday's trotting about.

Hope everyone else has had a good day

Missed the lunch gym session as my car punctured on a nail. Then my swim class was cancelled due to office parties, so inspite of feeling a bit man flu_ ISH I did an hour on the smart bike/Zwift.
Gets hard this time of year.

Still going...  strength yesterday, then 50km on the mtb today with a yoga class afterwards.

Last sportive of the year on Saturday. Looking forward to an easy one at just 50 miles or so 🙂

Edit- I'd never seen that Garmin "Endurance" score either. Just checked... 6,122   It seems to have come down a bit over the last month or so. I've been doing a load of Zone 2 work... My Garmins are not happy about this; they keep telling me I'm losing fitness ad my VO2 max is decreasing. I'm sticking to the plan though.

Day 87: rode to work today. Traditionally commuting wasn't allowed but I go to the office so infrequently that I commit to riding every time, and it was the team night out plus another day in tomorrow when I'll ride home (after unsurprisingly too many drinks tonight)
