I will be around Calais on Monday, looking to take in some sights from WW2. I was thinking of La Coupole and then Batterie Todt - are they worth visiting / is there anything else you'd recommend in the area ?

Also, if anyone knows of a good hotel in the area, that would be most useful.

Both good and worth a visit. Plenty more war stuff around but those 2 are very easy to get to. We tend to use an F1 for accommodation, cheap and clean

Not been to Batterie Todt but have been to La Cupole and to http://www.leblockhaus.com/en/ as well. Both are well worth a visit but the Blockhaus was the one that made me more thoughtful. It gave more of the story of the subjugation of Europe and the tremendous efforts put in place to stop the V2s that were to be manufactured there.

could try Etaples, just to remind yourself of the cost.

Thanks all - wasn't aware of there being a large cemetary near by from WW1.

I am heading down with an early start tomorrow.

Cassell is a nice place to visit, a hill top town, in the flatlands of Northern France/South West Belgium that has history from both world wars. 20 minutes from St. Omer.
