I would show you my shoes. But sadly, I broke the cleats on the bottom of my 8 year old pair of shoes a few weeks ago. So they went in the bin. I guess I can post up a photo of the space on the shelf where they used to be...
Good luck everyone!
Dammit, I just threw out my 'I can see your socks in those' MO89's...
I'm the same...the uppers appeared to be in good order, but the lacing system and ratchet system only had 2 points where they worked - undone or right-tight, the soles were almost smooth and one cleat didn't actually disengage as it rotated on the sole - so the shoe stayed connected to the bike!
Got them replaced but the previous pair was binned...
Not very, very old but artistically photographed?
Timely as mine are knackered, holes in both soles from the pins and dropping my ankles (but does help with letting the water out...), the outer layer is flaking off all round and the insoles have no support left in them!

Only allowed 3 pictures?!? Oh well, the three worst will have to do.
Will post up a picture of my lad's Super Glue Specials later.
Cue loads of folk digging out a knackered old pair they just haven't got round to chucking even though they have 3 pairs of brand new ones they just picked up in the Evans sale....
I'm letting my son use my trailcross at the moment, as he'd grown out of his. I'm hoping he doesn't stay a size 9 for very long so I can have them back. Unitl then I'm just using a pair of Etnies cos I'm skint*.....
I think I can hear the tiny violin in the back ground....😉
*I'm really not in the big scheme of things, but can't justify spending money on new bike shoes.
Almost borked but still rolling... uppers are reasonable but pedal pin rash on the toes does sting...

Just threw out my old pair, those pictures are my best ones! The other pair are just as bad but still covered in mud (Dyfi slop sets like concrete!) and I really can't be bothered to wash them. Would have bought some in the Evans sale but A: I'm currently unemployed and watching the pennies and B: I'll never give any of my money to Mike Ashley if I can possibly avoid it.
Is it obvious how I position my feet on the pedals?
I've actually worn a hole right through the outer sole 🙂

@reluctantjumper - Sorry, I was only taking the piss, although the bit about my lad wearing my Trailcross and not wanting to spend money on new shoes is true.
I never win on the Christmas Giveaway, so please please please🙏🙏🙏

Falling apart but still in regular use for commuting.
They have become more leaky breathable as the years have passed.
I binned my 5-10 Minnar SPDs only a few weeks ago because the shank was broken and the clip came off. 😥
Does “old” earn any points? I’m still using my Shimano MX-70’s that I bought back in the ‘90’s…

@ads678 - no offence taken, actually chuckled at your comment as I had the same thought!

These are my son's Adidas Stan Smith's, which have been his all purpose bike park/bmx and skate shoe for far, far too long. Although they are now exceptionally breathable, what with the extra holes, it wouldn't be wise to actually breathe in their vicinity. In this case, some new shoes might genuinely save lives and significant decontamination expense.
Looking for something to slot in above these and demote them formally to gardening duties!

Soles currently badly attached with Shoe Goo

Can anybody explain why when cleats get really worn they become like death traps . .? Surely the more worn the looser they should be ? 🤔

My mate who owns a shoe repair shop has stuck these back together a few times, haven’t got the nerve to go back any more and don’t think it’s worth investing in a pair of new insoles 🙄
I thought I'd have this sewn up (no pun intended) but looking down the thread (same), these might have a few more years in them. Still...

Gaping holes in mine!

This is what the cat thinks of my old Access shoes.

I don't have any "proper" riding shoes at the minute since going back to flats, just wearing my old normal shoes. Yes they let in a lot of water 😅

Rumbled before I'd even done the deed!
In fairness I suspect I won't win.
I love my shoes, but they are getting a bit tatty after 30 ish years. 😂

I can't compete with some of these already posted.
Not cycling shoes but I have cycled to the shop in them - wife says they have to go. Can’t see what’s wrong with them meself!!…

Here's mine and Mrs. E's - both been Shoe Goo'd at least twice on the sole

Bob Ross-esque happy little shoes, well they're grippy although the pins do leave marks on my feet.
Tough love!

Some absolute shockers there, and some that just need a clean, all mine are mint compared to the above.
Mine are shot. Sole hanging off on one and bubbling up on the other, d30 hanging out. Still comfy tho with great grip!!

Here are mine: bulletproof and still going strong after 6 or 7 years. They've had a bit of a break recently (and laces washed) as I'm trying clipped for the year on the MTB as a 2023 resolution)

These used to be neon yellow and kept water out, still comfiest pair though.
Bike Park Wales last Sunday wasn't kind to them.

Three levels of Specialized… still wear them all. The red ones are probably past it to be fair.

Even Evo Stick can’t help me anymore

Changed the cleats, but that does nothing for the smell

These two pairs of shoes have been loved.
My lake shoes have now been retired to roller duty. They fell apart on a ride. They were repaired with zip ties mid ride. Then glued and zip tied when I got home. That was a few years ago and still going strong.
My other pair are Scott heater boots from a psa on here years ago. I liked them so much I bought two pairs. The sole has started to come off after pushing over the big pass on the badger divide. Keep meaning to fix them.
Still plenty of life left in these

My old 5/10's still going strongish after at least 10 years thanks to CT1 adhesive. Winning Dirtiest Rider prize here a few weeks ago!
There are some mightily impressive shoes out there in this thread! Apart from the soles on my shoes, externally they appear to be ok, but inside I've rotted them...nothing to see until you start removing bits to get a good look inside the shoes.
I'm very impressed at some of the battle scars these shoes are carrying around though.
I think these have been used by 3 members of the family now. Pictures don’t do justice to how thin the soles are now and that hole is all the way through to your socks.

My Teva Links have been serving me well for almost 10 years now - but their waterproof feature is sadly no longer.

The bad pairs are at home so I can only send what I'm wearing now

I can't even afford bike specific shoes (reaches for the tissues).
I honestly can't work out why these are no longer waterproof.

These are my original pair of 5:10's with the classic "new ventilation"...

Still rocking my old Greg Minnaar shoes after years (do they even still make them?) even though I’m back to riding flats nowadays. Although they do let water in through the clear slots and take a while to dry.

I'll post a pic of mine when I get home but after looking at some of the biohazards above I reckon mine still have life in them.
I just thank my lucky stars that the Forum Smell-o-Vision implementation didn't work!
The pin locator hole corresponds with a similar hole in the sole of my foot.

@ADS2910 - Those Tevas are the only shoes that nearly swayed me from 5Ten.
Crumbs there are some trashed shoes.
My Spesh 2fo's i thought were bad but maybe not.
Lefty not attached to the sole for the first 5cm and after a crash the only replacement boa i could find didn't match.
Cleats are now proud of the sole so slippery as flip.
Keep meaning to invest in some flats/five10's.

Not mine but my 12yr old sons shoes. He struggles with shoes and clothes with the fit and feel of stuff so literally wears stuff till they fall off him, can't be comfy riding a set of flats with these!

Around 8 years old but still wearing them every week.

Looking at the competition I've got years left in these!

This would be great timing for a replacement of my now 'waterproof-sock-required' soles.

My son's shoes. He's a poor student what ain't got no other shoes to wear. Honest guv.

(anyone know which model of 5-10 the above are??)
Ratchet died a death on a rock recently and now doesn't work on one side, toe seal has gone and let's water in, cleats are rusted on solid, back to flats which I have found out leak...love autum

As others have said. I thought mine were bad, until I saw some of the other photos.
Here are my SH-M220 carbons from 2001 or thereabouts
they’re old and knackered but I only stopped wearing them because I’m in worse condition than they are and they are so stiff they were making my feet hurt

Worn but still mostly usable.
I left mine outside to dry, and I think I now need to burn them..
deleted
yes I still use these shoes 🙂 even though you can get your fingers into the soles
Minging. My lad's horrible Super-Glue infested things.

Take 2... Trying again after image sharing fail and can't edit my original post 🙁

Lets try again
