Tickets bought. Good to see you’ve cut out the middleman - I trust that means more money in the STW coffers.

It does indeed mean we get to keep most of the cash - a couple of percent goes on transactions costs. But you can now also use Paypal.

But the big win is we can make a real fuss of the draw and do it live and stuff 🙂

Sounds good!

Is Paypal better for you? If so I’ll use that next time.

Paypal has it's advantages for us but there's honestly not a great deal in it. Just use whatever payment method is best for you.

Bad news @Mark the stripe option didn't work for me "we're unable to process your order at this time" came up as the error message.

I’ve been looking at this bike for a week. Got to be a good omen right? Entered previous draws but this is something I’d really like!

@Mark

As you are probably aware the shop is adding large letter postage on to raffle tickets £2.82.

Also I’ve managed to login again after site “anomalies”.

The linked article says the draw will take place on the 14th a day after closing, then later on says the 21st of August?

A small number of orders got postage added for some reason. I’ve refunded postage on all of them. Sorry about that. And the draw is definitely 21st August. It was originally going to be the 14th but holidays get in the way of that.

Ooh, I was only thinking about when & what the next raffle would be a couple of days ago. Ticket bought and fingers crossed.

I’ve nowhere to put it should I get lucky, but it might encourage me to get rid of a couple of surplus bikes, and Surly go right back to before I ever bought a mountain bike, I’ve long had a fondness for them.

Now, how often is the mag published… [img] [/img]

For those struggling with the question. The answer is in the original story. paragraph 3. I even put it in bold for you.

I was asked why there's a bloody stupid question to answer anyway..

The answer is we are legally obliged to ask one. Yes, really.

To run a raffle where you just buy a ticket and that's it is to technically operate a lottery. To operate a lottery you need to jump through a lot of hoops in order to get a lottery operating licence.

The legal way around this is to run the competition as a 'game of skill' for which a lottery licence is not needed. Asking a question that must be answered correctly in order for your entry to count makes it a game of skill and not a game of chance - legally that is.

Also, there needs to be a free to enter option, which is why you can enter for free by sending the answer to the question to us through the post. If you do that and you answer the question correctly we are obliged to add you to the list of correct entries.

So long as we follow those rules we are are not operating a lottery for which a licence is required.

Hope that explains things 🙂

I'm sourcing some small extra prizes for the live draw to make it all the more exciting and to increase your chances of winning something 🙂

I just recieved a surprise in the post; a 12 speed chain as a runner up prize! I run 11 speed, but will pass it on to one of my riding buddies. Thanks Mark/Singletrack.

Obviously I didn't watch the  video at the time. I've just watched it, and no Benji, I'm not the controversial Rhianna Ex. I think he was named after me.

As above I've received (couple of days ago) my runner up prize! Nice little hip flask. Might have to find a new tipple to fill it with.

Thank you singletrack team.

Looking forward to the next raffle.
