Damn. I've been impressed with how she was going about her role, not just compared to her predecessors, but also compared to some of her colleagues.
There were good intentions but the money to back it up and make meaningful change still wasn't there. Current funding from provided to ATE for local authorities is still woeful.
I don't see a change of Agenda with a new minister.
Heidi Alexander, initial opinions seem to be that this is a continuity appointment.
A real shame to hear. Haigh’s interview with the Streets Ahead podcast gave me a lot of optimism.
It does seem that Heidi Alexander has similar plans in mind though so fingers crossed. Also spotted this nice little stat on Bluesky that this appt means the cabinet is 100% state educated for the first time in history
