That is an absolutely ridiculous amount of money.

(The family car cost less than that new two years ago)

Ooh. I wonder if they spec a smaller rear wheel in the XL size. Mullet is a bit of a turn off as a tall person.

As Benji says… what really matters is how the £7k model rides.

£13k is a ridiculous amount of money for a bike IMHO but at least you get suspension and a motor with that one.

Did you do any rides with full-power bikes ? How much slower on "normal" climbs ?

Initial thoughts about geometry: I think the reach of the S4v could be a smidge longer, and the effective seat angle could be steeper

Can't afford it, but I can take some comfort in that I wouldn't want one anyway due to the sizing.

Seat angle is a slack 75.8deg.
S3 445mm reach (too short), 604mm top tube
S4 470mm reach (too long), 626mm top tube (too long)

So in a continent where ebike power is limited to 250W how is peak power more than this? What is peak power?

The limit is 250W continuous, not peak.

I await information on motor rebuildability and motor spares availability with breath that would have been a lot more bated if either
- it had a removable battery
- or it had no built in and had a water bottle 250ish bolt on, so I could get 500 with one in the rucksack.

Ok so how long is the bike allowed to output more than 250W?

Honestly I’m trying to get my head round this stuff

Here you go:

Regulation (EU) No 168/2013 defines “maximum continuous rated power” as the maximum thirty minutes power at the output shaft of an electric engine as set out in United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regulation No 85.

Wow I was sure the answer would be in seconds. So there a bikes that give 500w for 10 minutes? What a weird way to write the rules

There's an interview with Shimano on the motor power issue on emtb forums and he wouldn't answer it! Wanted to keep Shimano's "interpretation of the law" a secret. The new Shimano motor produces 600w! They have got more strict on the speed limter though, and the firmware will brick the motor if it detects any attempt at derestricting. Maybe that's the more important issue the authorities are worried about?

I wonder if that includes modifying them so you don't need to pedal (not that your average Deliveroo rider will be riding Shimano's latest and greatest)?

what is pedaling like when the battery goes flat? does the motor etc. disengage from the crank or is it like the EP8 which feels like treacle.
