Coal Scab could be seen as a fairly insensitive name in some parts of the UK

They are based in Notts and I think that section of the NUM went back to work whilst others were still striking. So seems quite appropriate!

Nice looking bike mind, looking at the photos on their website they could have put some valve caps on the wheels 🙁

The brands about page would suggest that the history of the miners strike is not unrecognized.

I'm sure I bough a (kids?) bike a few years ago and the shop told me they are not allowed to include valve caps any more as they are a choking hazard. He apologised for the crazy Nanny-State of it all but said that was the rules now /shrug/

I was wondering whether riding one would get you punched in the face in certain towns/villages in North Notts?

Absolutely bizarre name choice on the otherwise quite desirable Coal DJ bike.

How could you know what a Scab is and ever think that's a good idea?

That pedal wrench looks 100% less good than just using a big p-handle allen key, you can't even lean it against the frame like you do with the allen. Nicely made I'm sure but still just bad.

Pedal wrench, a solution to a non-problem.

This was my exact thought...

Edit:....but they do also have a bike called Coal 84. Bit on the nose.

Yeah, I reckon that too. They could at least have designed it with an interchangeable bit so you don't have to buy 2 of them for different pedals.

Always been that way for anything sold to be used by under 3s - no choking hazard small parts. Hardly nanny state really. For bikes for older kids, no problem.
