Nice prize!
Just to let you know, this bit needs updating in the prize entry window. It still references the bike website from yesterday:

Bonus entries when you..

Same here. Logged in on the site, but always seem to be not logged in for all this. Wasn't like this last year with all the extra faff and whatnot.

The 'login' on the question form is misleading. It's software we have not written and it's not user editable. Login on the form simply means enter your name and email. Everyone needs to do that, even if you are logged in to the site. Once your email is in the system the software uses that to determine if you have already entered. The need to validate the email address by clicking a link further reduces chancers entering random email addresses to try and win. It's not infallible but it removes a bunch of our previous 'issues'. One other reason for this new system is that it makes our lives a lot easier when picking winners. It's a button push and done. Rather than downloading spreadsheets and manually picking a random winner. For daily prize winners that's important. But it's also to make sure that it's site members who get the benefits of our megasack competitions. In recent years the MegaSack has caught the interest of a lot of competition websites and quite a lot of entries come from people who are not what you'd call members. Just adding a couple of extra hurdles is generally enough to keep things 'in house' so to speak.

The extra form for full members entry to the big MegaSack draw means we can keep things separate for you full members. It also means that on Christmas Eve when I pick a winner live I won't have to spend an hour or two before hand exporting a big list, checking it twice and such to make sure I pick a proper winner. This year, I'll be able to push a button and a name will appear and that person will have been validated and checked by the magic elves inside the computer. That has the added benefit of allowing me to safely have a drink or two before I go live on Youtube.

Ho ho ho and that sort of thing.

Thanks Mark for explaining. Keeping the comp for STW'ers sounds good. Ho ho ho indeed!

So, at the bottom of the full member bit where it says:

'come back and earn more in 16 hours and 35 minutes' atm, what does that mean?

Edit: sorry, I read the copy more carefully. So basically I get to enter the competition once using the e-mail verification thing, which despite the text has nothing to do with being logged in anyway and then, because I'm a member, I get to come back at some point in the future and enter again - although it's different - because computer says no? Colour me mildly bemused, what is the time lag all about 🙂

I’m struggling to find the links, there is this text:

Bonus entries when you..

- Check out our latest Singletrack merch
- Check out the CatEye Website

but no links.

@Badlywireddog

As I explained, the MegaSack members only draw is a separate competition. Hence the second form that only full members can see. The timer is so that you can enter every day. ie. every 24 hours you get to add another entry in the draw. Just like in previous years, the more days you entered the more entries you got in the MegaSack draw.

In previous years, the way I picked a MegaSack winner was first by randomly selecting one of the competition days. Then going to the list of entries for that day and then picking a random winner from that day. This meant your chances of winning the Megasack were maximised when you entered every daily draw. Because this year it's full members only for the MegaSack big prize we needed a separate draw for you guys. To give you the same multiple opportunities of winning it's set up to allow you to enter it every 24 hours. As a quirk of the system that means more chances than the 16 days (Week days) of daily draws as you can revisit that form at the weekends and grab youself extra entries there. Visit us every day between now and the draw and you could be in the hat with up to 21 'tickets'.

Why? because we want you to visit the site often. We don't want you visiting on the first day, entering the MegaSack and never coming back. You can do that but you only get one 'ticket'. Come back every 24 hours and you get more 'tickets'.

Does that explain things better?

It does, but a reset at midnight would be more user friendly as I now have to remember to come back to this page in 3hrs and 19 minutes...

I'm not sure I can see a timer... I think I've entered both days but unsure. Singletrack is making me feel old and inept 😉

Yup but that's not an option we have. It's 24 hours after each entry

Keep an eye on this.

This means I've got 2 entries in the MegaSack draw.

Yep. I do wonder what genuine value those page visits have for you guys, but that's not really my concern.

Damn, was waiting for today to enter yesterday’s comp, like last year; I’ve got no interest in / need for a balance bike but wanted the extra megasack entry.

Oh why did this raffle tool decide on a once every 24h feature, rather than once a day.

Slight modification of the rules. We are keeping the daily draws open unto 6pm Sunday for the week. We'll draw all the winners for each day then. This will give you a few days grace to get your entries in for the daily draws rather than the strict 24 hur limit the system was set up to do. @ayjaydoubleyou I'll watch for your next megaSack entry and stick you on an extra one for the one you missed on day 1.
