That Moonlander is absolutely disgusting, combining Aliexpress looks with **** me Surly pricing... But I still want a go, the idea of little wheels and huge tyres is so appealing. Had one of the rare rides today when 4.8 definitely was not big enough at times

Someone at Surly/Ison didn't get the industry memo on pricing. Or the memo that gold should remain out of fashion. Would still like to join the queue for a go on the Moonlander...

To be fair, I got my Surly Ice Cream Truck in 2015 when the list price was 800 quid. A 200 quid hike in ten years does not seem so bad compared to how much everything else has gone up.

I have to say that the Karate Monkey colour was not my first choice but it looks stunning built up. Surprised they did not call it stolen Nazi gold or something similar given the weird names they come up with for paint choices. ? I do like their bikes.

The Moonlander is a riot to ride. Went out for an urban ride on New Year's Day for a few hours and it just made me smile the entire time. The tyre width is truly enormous. It makes my Bud and Lou's look like narrow xc tyres.

Feel free to ask me about it and my initial thoughts.

Cheers

Sanny

As for the cost of the Moonlander, I initially thought the same but when you consider that it is a bespoke design with rims and tyres that have a limited market on a unique frame that is a niche within a niche, I am surprised it did not cost more. It is a design that is genuinely different from any other bike that I have ever ridden. The looks have really grown on me and it is just a giggle to ride.
