I do not need a new bike, I do not need a new bike.
That is going bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people. The miles of smiles per £ is pretty spectacular 🙂
It feels a little heartwarming to me for some reason, maybe because of this climate of accepting £8k (or insert your unaffordable costs for most people) e-bikes. An accessible bike to go out and have fun with, well done Calibre!
Damn, I'm really tempted by that.
I've got an old one so this could be an upgrade.
Anyone got any real life experience of this? (preferably telling me it's not that great so shouldnt get it!!)
I don't even ride anymore and even I'm tempted!! 🙂

Mate, if you've even vaguely in the market for one then just buy it now.
Initial reviews were very positive, it won't be a lemon and you'll feel smug every time you ride it.
It's a great bike. Geo and suspension are sound. Components decent. Easy enough to bring properly up to par too (tyres and maybe bigger rotor(s))
Wow, I bought one 30 days ago when the reviews first came out, feel a bit like I've been shafted now along with anyone else who bought straight away.
I thought black Friday was for clearing all the stock they couldn't sell, not for slashing the prices of recently launched products - lesson learned.
Paying £999 to turn it in to the authorities seems a bit excessive. (Though buying it at that price would be a bargain.)

I certainly don't ride offroad enough to justify one, but that's properly in the realm of "be rude not too"!
I'd considered it, might give them a good laugh I suppose.
You could pick up a Dark Peak with the money you saved!
Or a nice suspension fork like a lyrik or pike in the sales, and upgrade the bike from the off.
@fattyatforty I would be mightily annoyed if I’d bought one after launch that was then hugely discounted shortly afterwards. I had similar with Muc-Off recently, placed an order Thursday evening then got an email next day announcing 25% off everything. I sent a polite email expressing my annoyance and received a gift voucher, It’s worth a try to complain, even if you only get a voucher?
I'm not really interested in a voucher, a couple hundred quid back would be nice - can't see that happening though.
Maybe if the folks at Calibre (not Go Outdoors) see this they could sort out those that dove in and bought straight away with something useful like a spare mech hanger and/or chainstay protector when they become available.

you know what they will see? An email directly to them. You can’t just hope they will come to you.
I’d be telling them I’m looking to return the bike for a full refund, so I can re purchase at the lower price.
I'm reckon they'll see this, the interweb will work its magic.
Best of luck then.
For a variety of reasons. I'm still riding a 26" Orange 5 from 2009.
This looked like a great opportunity to get into a LLS 29".
I blinked and missed that opportunity.
Lesson learnt!
