Roll on next week.

3 laps of Watopia Flat Route so a bit less climbing and a lot less distance!

You’ve taken your start/ waiting in the pen period off of those times?

The times I posted are the results from the WTRL site, I assumed the waiting time had been accounted for?

ah ok, I don’t have access to that.  Our result at 1:11 was the Zwiftpower time with a +9min pen time.  Strava shows a 1:03 moving time for me.

is it possible to see the wtrl results without a login?

LPCC but the Zone 4 at 6:30pm, B (Frappe?). If you could find out I'd be grateful!

Good result that! Well done both groups.

Next week we can and stretch out our group and not blob as much, maybe push a bit more with it being flatter...no hills to die on! 🤣

Thanks! Happy with 1:02:18!

72nd in class out 76 it looks like.

Hurumph, we were upgraded because our A team was short so the two of them that could ride joined us, which has bumped us up from Frappe.

That was genuinely exciting to watch as a dotrace on zwiftpower live. Both teams really nailed it. I was gutted to see @oopnorth and @drew tailed off so near the end (but tech issues explains both, no?). That's a really tough course for the TTT - long, and lumpy, with the second hill quite deep into the race.

Brian's power was really fascinating - lowest w/kg in MoreSTW on lap 1, then it crept up (as did his "variability" a field I've never even noticed before) as he got more active. His first lap at ~2.5w/kg shows just how much you can exploit the draft if you are confident of getting back on if a gap did open.

The two teams also had markedly different power profiles across the riders.
(STW) had a noticeable gradient 3.7, 3.7, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.2, 3.1, 2.9
(MoreSTW) were much more tightly packed 3.0, 3.0, 3.0, 2.8, 2.8, 2.7 2.6, 2.6

I've entered two teams again for next week. Entry details in next (EDIT - later, actually, link not up yet!) post...

@drew seemed to be going along really well to say he couldn't see any of us. At one stage he pulled out a 6-7 second gap on the team. I think it was either a dropout or he actually couldn't see us as he lost his glasses!

Yeah tech issues for me...a dropout and I never came back on so couldn't rejoin.

But fun nonetheless. Just a shame I have no ZP results to see some stats.

I'm up for next week, I'm now doing the TTT until Robbo's race series comes back. I can only commit to one night each week so its chop and change.

Ah that was me - I fell right off on the descent as I dropped my glasses and was trying not to catch them under a pedal. Not the wisest place to let you all pull out a big gap. I heard some mention of he's gone rogue and thought you meant me as I couldn't see the gap to Andrew (front rider or two vanished off the top of the list which is irritating.)

haha - when he said he couldn't see anyone I thought it was him who lost his glasses and literally couldn't see the screen because he didn't have his glasses on!

yeah, i dunno what's up with Zwift at the moment.

I did a race yesterday and the only rider in the list was, me. I could see all the other riders though so knew roughly how i was doing, but the list was very lonely.

This. I had a (display) dropout with a few km to go in this one https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=1042582, I was a bit distracted but I genuinely thought I kept pedalling at least enough to maybe be in touch...I was 1 minute down when vision was restored.

I did a race yesterday and the only rider in the list was, me

Me too (different race, same time of day). You fared better than me it seems - the uncertainty whether everyone around me was even racing (there was a lot of moaning in the chat about it too) got to me and I sat up. There's a thread on the zwift forum, it's been under investigation for a while, but they asked for my log file. I got up early this morning to do another race instead and it worked fine. So it's intermittent.

I had a "blip" where all the riders/named disappeared for a few seconds (as if I'd lost connection, although I hadn't) but fortunately they all came back quickly & I was still in the pack!! There were a LOT of people online last night (almost 7000 when I looked!) which might explain it?

It was frustrating when the rest of the team disappeared and I probably panicked a bit as it has not happened to me before. I started pedalling harder to try to be on equal terms if the team reappeared but probably over did it for a while hence the 6 second gap. When Brian said you were behind me I eased right off but should have probably eased off just slightly as you were still not visible to me. At one point I was passed by a team wearing orange Zwift jerseys. Did they pass our team?

Nothing worse than these dropouts, especially when you are doing a long ride and it happens near the end! Lets hope it doesn't happen on our Pretzel ride tomorrow or I'll be turning the air blue!!

My legs are toast this morning.

Looked at my average power output and it was 20 watts down on all the robbo races I've done. I remember climbing the hill yesterday and couldn't believe I was only putting out 240 watts. Felt like I was doing over 300.

Last ttt I did I put out pretty much exactly the same average power but remember thinking it was a very comfortable ride. Yesterday was brutal.

@tpbiker half of the course is very lumpy, the surges plus overtaking really seem to sap the leg power & hence overall power output (for me anyway!) There somehow seems to be virtually no downhill on that course to get a rest on (not that Phil allows that anyway 😂) Agree that it was a brutal course - the extra length plays a big part I think - but weirdly it's one of my favourite because you do see a reward for keeping up those power surges, plus the hill isn't actually THAT big 😃

@tpbiker - weren't you concerned in the Covid thread that a close contact had come down with it? (I might be wrong I only skim those threads as the arguments get a bit much for me! I come here to escape the news lol.

Anyway - could be a sign that you are coming down with something> Not necessarily Covid but just a general infection or virus etc.

Yeah, I did wonder that. But he says he only coughs outside, so going on that evidence he's got asthma, not covid!

Probably didn't help I did 24 miles in the morning on back of Tuesday's efforts.

plus the hill isn’t actually THAT big

I actually usually find I get a rest on the hills, relative to the flat, as my weight means I can actually ease up on the power to go same pace as everyone else due to my w/kg coming into play. Wasn't the case on Thursday however.

You can register for the TTT on Thursday now but I don’t know where @savoyad copies the link from. I use the app to sign up and can’t see a link from there.

I assume we are signing up to A again.

Android? Yeah there's no share functionality. The world's most popular mobile OS and zwift doesn't work properly on it. Seems strangely appropriate.

Everyone enter category A here: https://zwift.com/events/view/1123143

We'll do tags etc nearer the time.

I usually get the link from the wtrl site (it provides peace of mind by putting it next to the team entry) but that's not working yet. I think this one is right though!

It's nothing to do with not spending money, it's that whole ethos thing.

You've got the apple approach and it's antithetical opposite [s] android [/s] bauhaus.

Zwift definitely fits the first one. It does a wonderful job of looking like it should work well - what's the odds their new series with wtrl still has the "stop pedaling"?

Any who. I'm signed up. See you all Thursday

I'm In, will change tag later - am ZRL'ing tonight.

The data mangling involved in ZRL is mind blowing, and I'm almost a data scientist.

The wrangling of riders into one coral would put an australian cattle dog through its paces, add a few time zones into the mix and it's got all the hall marks of failure to launch, my team captain is GMT-4.

Can I reserve one space in whatever team I end up in ?

I've bullied a friend (Martin) into it, he just needs to get his category back (he's a C) as he hasn't raced since July, so he's going to do a few short races to see if it comes back on ZP.

@savoyad ... tempted to join in this week?

I'm always tempted. Can't make it work at the moment though.

Yep. You don't need a category to start - if you do have one, it is used when the results system determines the team category but if you don't it just uses your ride that day to assign you a notional category. We've figured this out through experimentation..
So, from that perspective, Martin can ride without re-establishing his zwiftpower category. Obviously, he might prefer to "see if it comes back" in another sense rather than doing the TTT as his first zwift ride in months though! Either way, he's welcome and if he's there on the list of course can ride in the same blob.

12 signed up now, 13 with Martin, which is ample to secure two teams but also leaves space for anyone else who'd like to join in. Sign up to category A here: https://zwift.com/events/view/1123143

Ok great, thanks.

He is doing a couple of races anyway, he does a lot of zwift FTP training, rather than races, so should be pretty fit.

Looking at his stats he is basically the same as me as far as I can see.

Martin has regained his category designation, so all good there now anyway.

Whats the team setup / tags, ta.

@giggsmaster - high C/low B helps a lot tvm. You are on point.

An adult will be along soon with detailed information, and explain it more clearly, for the moment you need to have a discord account, have joined the event, and changed your ZP tag to match your allocated team (to be announced). Once you are in the start pen, and the race is about to start, do NOT pedal until our start time (otherwise you will roll through the start line before the allocated time).

Martin is signed up, currently has the tag (Revolvers), just waiting for the team name, assuming MoreSTW, and tried to get his Discord working last night, should be ok by start time.

Something I discovered this week:

If you go an event in ZP - say this evenings venture:
https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=1123143

In the top right menu bar is 'Settings'. This will allow you to change your team designator and your name and tag for *that event only*, so you don't have to change back for another event (say ZRL..).

OK, here we go...

TEAM ONE, STW, is @tpbiker, @dangeourbrain, @phil56, @mossimus, @paino, @yanboss, @zilog6128, @robbo1234biking
Start delay is 3 minutes. So in the start pen by 19:40, GO GO GO at 19:43:00
Rider name tag is (STW). @dangeourbrain and @robbo1234biking you need to update your tags.
Use Discord voice channel TTT (STW) on the STW server.

TEAM TWO, MoreSTW, is @w00dster, @scaredypants, Martin, @haloric, @oopnorth, @ljarch, @ivandobski, @giggsmaster
Start delay is 5 minutes. So in the start pen by 19:40 and GO GO Go at
19:45:00
Rider name tag is (MoreSTW). @w00dster, @scaredypants, Martin, @haloric, @giggsmaster you need to update your tags.
Use discord channel TTT (MoreSTW) on the STW server.

Discord invite if necessary https://discord.gg/mJBVYW

@giggsmaster - do you have a zwiftpower profile? The rider name tag needs to be done there, not on zwift itself. If that's new to you, say so and instructions will appear here...

Sorry Savoyad, everyone
I think I'm likely to bail, either totally or during the ride. Have ducked my back carrying stuff yesterday and not sure I can ride.
I will change my tag and hope to start but please DO NOT wait for me if I fall back

Hopefully I don't have connection issues this week, also Discord was really playing up for me, so if it goes down again I will have to revert to old school messaging.

Who is doing shouting "GO GO GO" for the MoreSTW team this week? I'll not volunteer due to the issues above.

does that change the name in Zwift itself I.e. on the “nearby riders” table on the right of the screen? Awesome if so. They just need to do the same for bikes now so I can select the TT for an event but then avoid forgetting to change back for the next normal race!!

Nope, nothing you change in ZP affects the Zwift display. Changing your ZP tag in your profile also does not change it in Zwift. Only what you change in your Zwift profile in Zwift affects the Zwift display (afaik).
