I’m in. Can’t promise performance though. Just back from a 50 miler which can only be described as ‘type 3’ kind of fun. Rained on, cold biting wind, surface spray, to top it all off I couldn’t get a table at the cafe stop.
Anyway, feel free to put me in whichever group.

Tried posting 3 times to say I'm in, we'll see if this attempt works!

Edit. Looks like it finally worked.

Planning to join you all tomorrow but work has gone a bit crazy. I'm hoping another early start tomorrow will break the back of it though so all going to plan I'll be a bit cream crackered but able to race.

There will definitely be two teams tonight. And there is still space for more riders.
Join Category A here https://www.zwift.com/events/view/1179250

I'll post team allocations in a bit.

How's the ankle @drew?

Reluctantly I think I will give it a miss this week. My physio daughter in law feels I’m maybe pushing things a bit too soon so I’ll probably race again on Tuesday and see how I am for next one. Shame, as I was looking forward to it and quite like the Richmond route but I don’t what to set things back. Have a good one everyone.

Don't worry it is on the race series in a couple of weeks so you can still do it!

Cheers Savoyad. Not riding tonight then? Haven’t we got 4 Bs in STW - I thought ya boss had gone up to B now? Or am I confused.

I signed up, but it turns out the first Thursday in November doesn't mean what I thought it would! I'll ride next week though.

There are actually not 4 but 5 Bs for you and zilog to chase in STW this week. It'll put you in frappe but one team had to move up and it doesn't really matter (certainly when it isn't the world championships...). And the power gradient is pretty good -it might be easier with @scaredypants and @yanboss buffering the gap to the superfast trio.

^^^think I might be bringing up the rear this evening. With luck the pedal home will perk me up a bit but if I'm not in the pen assume I fell asleep and toppled into a ditch on the commute!

Despite losing discord just before the start & having to ruin myself for the first minute to get back on 😂 that is one of my favourite TTT courses I think! The fact it ends on a hill means Phil can’t crack the whip any more as I’m already giving it 110% at that point 😀 Good workout, great teamwork... very few gaps, even on the hills 👍

Apologies for going for the breakaway on the second to last climb. I was channeling my inner-Sagan!

I hate that course as I’m not a climber although have spent this yeah improving my climbing.  I deputised into our Clubs A team tonight which meant 5wkg turns and 8wkg up the climbs.

im pooped and have shakey legs 😀

We were really untidy on the climbs, big splits and ultimately it cost us quite a bit of time because 4th place was gapped by a fair distance on the final drag.

I was struggling for 4th's wheel but dropped it when it was obvious it was basically a drag race to the line for the final timed slot that I wasn't going to win.

I think that other team blew their legs off trying to catch us so early then struggled the rest of the way round which was awkward.

Thanks team MoreSTW for towing me around and dragging me up the hills. I was at my limit. I had a stitch at the end of the first lap and was humbled to be helped back into the group when I was faltering. My heart rate was in the high 170s then my HRM gave up when I got out of the saddle on the last few hills. Thanks again. 👍👍

Great effort zilog, I honestly expected you to fall over about mid way through after that start.

Good ride out tonight folks, I needed that more than I enjoyed it but it was a nice tight bunch and a good pace. Well done all.

Blimey !
Just had a look at ZPower - I'm the lightest on our team. Never seen that before. Some of you boys are UNITS, with the output to match. How come I was crying up all the hills ?

We were good on the flats, but all over the place on a couple of climbs, especially the one that had a team passing as we caught stragglers.

Mostly I think we fail to group up just before the crest of the hill, meaning we don't go over the crest and down the otherside as a unit. Going downhill as a unit is free speed.

Anyway, I enjoyed it, we lost Martin to another team for quite a while, and we were cruising on the flats pretty quick, didn't have much left to give on the final climb.

Apologies if I'm chipping in too much, get carried away !.

Looks like 59:56 for 4th wheel versus 54:04 for the A's who look they crossed the line 7 abreast ?

I'm conscious I bang on about not attacking the climbs/the catch and regrouping from the front a fair bit so you're not alone!

Zilog, that was funny to watch at the start. We were doing well under 200w and you weren't gaining at all. Draft is a big ol' thing

What's bloody weird is just how hard it is to rejoin a group if you're ahead slightly, back off and then they come by. Seems that any other random rider catches a massive draft but when it happened to me I was battering myself to get back on (then shot past and did the whole thing over again !)

Good race, somehow felt easier than the last few. Working internet definitely helps! Even managed a couple of turns on the front.

@scaredypants I was mostly tucked in at 250 W on the flat and then it was interval training up the hills at 320-350

Anyone know how to improve your cornering on Zwift? Every corner I would drop to a couple of meters off the back. Not sure if I subconsciously ease of as the corner approaches or I just need to level up my skill tree...

@scaredypants I was a much bigger unit about this time last year! I’m still short though so still got a way to go. Massively stalled this year but haven’t put weight on and grown my power so it’s not been too bad all things withstanding.

Was happy with the hills - the 2 runs up Libby hill were within a second of each other so nice and consistent. Averaged at least 310w on each climb as well so that was pretty good - tough but good! 2 min v02 max efforts on that 3 hill section.

We did cross the line as a good group tonight. First and last time I will get a bollocking for being to fast up a hill. 🤣

Yeah MoreSTW as a group we were all over the place on the last climb and towards the finish. Shame, as we did a good job to hold it together on the flats and the 1st time round.

I know I got a little carried away in the last KM, then not realising how far back the forth guy was until it was too late.

Now I accept this may not just be me but, Christ, my avatar is thick as pigshit - often riding a couple of metres to the outside of the bunch. Even up a straight road but especially round corners. My neighbour once asked me who I was shouting at in the garage, by which I assume he meant "can you perhaps stop being such a foulmouthed git?"

Maybe I should leave my mic open on discord one week: Tuck in, you **** !

When I (eventually) had a middle-aged health check blood test and they told me I was diabetic, I cut out eating sweets/junk at work. Just that. Apparently I ate a lot of it because I lost 8 kilos over a summer. None of my colleagues could look me in the eye, as they all thought I was horribly ill.

So, anyway. Do that !

Is that right Ivan, just a glitch in the graphics or something ?
(he definitely seesm to lose the draft sometimes)

Was wondering about the cornering too. I don’t ease off yet find myself going so wide I’ve then got to power back on. I’ll try and do as Nixie suggests.
All in a good team performance, only a minor ticking off from Phil this week!

I've definitely heard from somewhere semi-official but can't remember where, basically it's just a sort of glitch.

It would make sense actually, everyone thinks they're running wide so put out more power so everyone else needs more power and they think it's because they've run wide and so it goes on!

There has been lots of discussion about losing time on corners, seems to happen to a lot of riders.

I've yet to find a definitive zwift developer answer, this is probably the closest I've seen:

Edit - same link as haloric

All sounds pretty plausible. Going to have to watch to see if he stays "sat up" in the draft or not (in the image on that thread, rider does seem to have kept the draft)

Looking at the results again this morning, MoreSTW did better than I thought, 54:26

3mins down on STW (51:34) ! (unless I'm reading it wrong) and 109th out of 200 in class - middle of the road boys!. Somehow we managed to lose 45 secs on the last lap to the team that finished ahead of us - but hey.

Yeh that looks right Haloric.

Thanks for organising @savoyad hopefully you can ride next week.

When I saw the team last night I had a sense trepidation about the speed and if I could keep up but it worked really well. I wasn't hanging of the back too much and was able to do some (very short) spells on the front.

My legs are markedly shot this morning. Had a gloopy cold and been oddly tired for a week or so but largely put it down to lack of exercise. There were a few hard pulls for one reason or another last night and a lot of upy downy efforts which are always hard work but overall that should have been an comfy pace for me. This does not bode well for tomorrow.

I noticed your average was only 10w up on mine and on the last hill you seemed to be struggling which is unlike you. Rest up today!

I've notice the cornering thing myself and suspect that the avatar is a bit of a glitch with your screen not necessarily reporting the game. Different people see different things at the same time - my wife and I can both believe we are on the RHS of the other when riding together. Which matters when we have steering switched on as you can't cut through someone.

Weight (along with height) is used to calculate CdA so lightweights are more aero - they’ll be putting out less watts for any given speed

Ah, yes, but a [made up numbers] 70kg rider at 210w will do the same flat speed as an 80kg rider at 230w. The 80kg rider needs to push less w/kg for the same pace on the flat.

We have 7 entries for tomorrow's TTT at the moment.

Any more takers? We've managed two teams a few weeks in a row now... It's 2 laps of Tempus Fugit, so 37 very flat km, Thursday 7.40pm, mixed ability teams.

Enter category A here: https://www.zwift.com/events/view/1204976
(category A, regardless of your normal category, they use them differently for this event).

I'm not a stalker (well maybe a little bit) but I wonder if any of @andeh, @jamesoz, @v7fmp or @slowpuncheur could be tempted to join us?

And @weeksy you can't say it would be rude not to enter and then...not enter, can you?!

Happy to enter the MoreSTW ride. With last nights race I don’t think I can do two rides trying to hold Phils wheel without my lungs exploding.
Legs are in bits today, dog had the slowest walk of his life this morning!
If the main team is short I’ll do it, just can’t see me getting to the finish line. Also as I’m a B probably doesn’t help the team if I join, happy to let a C take priority over me.

Could do, not tried a TT, any gotchas I need to know?
I'll have a read through the thread later.
The only issue I have is a 3pm job in Kent to then get back to Reading. It's less than an hour's work but the M25 could bite me on the arse.
That and I have to relocate my turbo to avoid lungfulls of flint dust.

@trolo1234 is also in and has set up a Zwift Power profile. He is lightweight but good power output and would race as a B but no zwift power profile to view but I am sure you can do your usual stalking on his STW race results @savoyad!

Unless i change my mind randomly, i probably can. As per Robbos thread, i don't really do evening rides, for example, i'm just back now from a nice gentle roadie ride on the 29er... That's the sort of thing i do. At a push i do 4pm with my lad to the woods, but evenings are family time so i'm struggling to manage 1 at 7:30, let alone 2.

@jamesoz enter A. It's all a bit odd - in this event, A is used for mixed B/C teams i.e us.

I'll assemble two teams from all the entries and post that info tomorrow. At that point I'll also post the other info in enough detail for your first ride - they will include your zwiftpower tag (you'll need to add your team name to your rider name in zwiftpower) the discord channel invite link, the start process and probably other stuff too. In the meantime, make sure you have a zwiftpower profile set up (it's a one time hassle if not: https://support.zwift.com/en_us/connecting-to-zwiftpower-SyldRc_4H) and read through the thread for helpful nuggets...

@robbo1234biking - excellent news. no zp category means he (and if it's material the team) will just be allocated afterwards the category appropriate for whatever ride he puts in tomorrow. My favourite new riders are the ones who are blatantly really B but who zwiftpower insists are C because of one recovery ride they did 10 weeks ago.

Meh - I was on his wheel yesterday for ages* 😎

(I just don't want him thinking he's in our race and then not being)

*way over 10 seconds - then he hit an aero power-up and there was a bright light ... and I woke up half naked in my garage, covered in sick 🤢
