Might be worth considering a change to something less common!

I was thinking the same as I sat eating my sandwiches at the top of the hill, waiting for you lot - a LOT of bees came by

I'm back from the pub!
The race had a funny start!
I enjoyed the chat on the discord channel.
I was struggling towards the end of the last lap.
I thought we worked well as a team.
When I turned up at the pub my friends thought I had a temperature 🌡️!

Our team was a right royal clusterxxxx from pretty much the get go. Internet connection issues ruined us during the first lap, but in the words of seargent barns, no-one gets left behind..until of course yanboss's internet gave up completely!

Interestingly that was the highest average wattage I've put out on a ttt, yet also by far the freshest I've finished. A welcome return to form after a few weeks of mediocrity on the bike.

Wonder if we will get DQ’ed ?

We’ve been threatened with a complaint after some virtual handbags. A team in green came through us chasing one of their riders that went up the snapper ahead of the rest. We backed off but just as their last rider went past so did they, leaving us in their draft and confused and whether to come to a virtual stop or resume normal power and take them again. We chose the latter and went past. The moaning started.

They came through again and repeated the whole damn thing. After more complaints I advised them to go past and keep the power on until they’d broken the draft by creating a gap, and all would be good. A few choice statements about THE RULES in caps and we were at the snapper again, so we decided (via Zoom) to hit the climb at 5wg to drop them which we did. What can you do when you are sitting there backing off at 1.5wkg and still catching a team?

Way too many teams get within touching distance and don't realise it's taken them 30mins to gain a minute or whatever, try and do the final catch and overtake from 10 seconds out then die on their arse and ruin it for the team they've just caught.

I reckon it's the opposite issue. You catch a team and then they just sit on your draft. They then complain you've slowed down, failing to understand their speed has just picked up by 5km/h as we drag them along.

Whenever I've seen it they come past at say 4w/kg then as soon as they hit the front they sit at 2.5 or whatever whilst we've been sat at 3 throughout but then have to slow right down so as not to be drafting.

It's odd, and inconvenient, that you need such a big speed differential to make a clean pass. Makes it difficult for both teams, I guess - catchers might need to get their shit together and take a mini rest before pushing past hard (and that means they'll slow a bit just behind as Ivan suggests) and then catchees are expected to slow a bit to allow them past. Not helpful.

It's clearly some sort of artefact in the zwift mechanics but there ought to be a tech fix, even if they don't mess with the actual game physics. A new power-up that moves you to the far side of the road for 20 secs, or suddenly transports you 20 metres up the road and then dumps you back again a short while later ? A version of the "fence" thing that some group rides have that holds a team together, somehow combined with the no-draft burrito ?

I like the chaos.

I think we managed pretty well by creeping up on a team and then booting it a little as we passed. I think it helps a lot if the passing team slows just behind to ensure they are in a blob, rather than a line out, much less chance of getting separated, or getting dropped as the boot drops.

Alas, 110th out of 149, don't think we had much more in the tank !. Way to go Alpha team at 27 !.

The is what happened.  We are pretty experienced and besides, I could see thier wkg drop.   When we are passing we maintain “power on” for a good period past.

Are we racing this week? Half term for many but we have stayed at home so I am available on Thursday evening if we are putting a team in.

Watopias waste band so a lap around the flat out bits of Watopia so no real hills at all.

10 entries so far, so definitely two teams tonight but still time for more people to join.

Any takers? Enter category A here: https://www.zwift.com/events/view/115787 3'll post teams later today. At least I know what day it is this week.

It's not looking good for this evening.

We aren't on the start list and the racecontrol email (the only one I can find for WTRL, and which I have contacted successfully before) is returning recipient not found. So there's no way for me to contact them.

I don't use facebook. Can one of you see if they are responsive on messenger?

I have messaged them via Facebook @savoyad but they respond saying email them on the race control email. I will let you know if I get a response!

Edit: I wonder if they are struggling to manage both leagues on the Tuesday and Thursday now.

I can't chase this up at all. Sorry.

You could just ride, and I'll keep chasing it up. Teams in pen A are going at 30 second intervals, so we could tag on the end, at 14:30 and 15:00. That would give us the best chance of retrospectively getting a place in the results, but I think it's a long shot...

It depends how much the probably-unofficial nature of it would bother you. If you want to do that, it'll be a 5 and a 4 (taking into account @yanboss's post just now). How about:

STW, start delay 14:30 mins, @paino, @dangeourbrain, @phil56, @w00dster, @scaredypants
and
MoreSTW, start delay 15.00 mins, @giggsmaster, @zilog6128, @robbo1234biking and @ivandobski

If the mess puts some, but not all, of you off, the keenos could all ride together as STW at 14:30 mins delay.

That's my best suggestion(s)....

As the weakest link I'm going to bow out which should leave enough for a full STW A team. I was up for riding for the B team but if it's not "official" then I don't think I'm going to be that motivated.

Bit of a shame and thanks to those who have tried to sort this, as a bit of an update I had a check of the teams a couple of minutes ago and we weren't on it.

No trouble Adam, all your hard work is appreciated.

Given we're not going to be on the listing and it being a chunk of a delay (they've not been busy enough for 14 minutes for a while have they?) i think I'll give it a miss and just jump on for an hour when I get home, if nothing else timings work out better for me that way (sorry, bit selfish I know but means I can start cooking before 9pm)

I'll enter the pen and will have (STW) tag - suggest we all do that as I bet there won't be more than 8 and even if there are, we're not formally entered (or do we disagree?).
Admittedly I'm nowhere near qualified to say this but I'd encourage anyone who wants to turn up and we can make shit up as we go along (start together and then split, maybe ??)

If a team appears (I'll have the discord on too) then I'll happily ride as I've been sat at a desk all day without a break. If not then I'll just do a workout

@savoyad - thanks for your efforts Adam, but I'd rather not start at nearly 8pm if we're not official. I'll enter another race earlier and gain some brownie points for not being in the garage all evening!!!

If people still want to ride, @scaredypants has the solution now: join the pen tagged and ready to ride as one team, STW, and expect to start at +14:30 - this includes you @retrorick if you want.

I have had a reply via discord - they are receiving our emails, and there's a post on facebook (I can't see it, I'm not sure which page it'll be on - WTRL, WTRLTTT or another...) that they know about the missing team issue and are trying to resolve it.

That might mean our ploy of tagging on the end could actually succeed. But it could also mean we are allocated a different start delay at the last minute. The event (other zones) has started, so I can't see it being fixed now to be honest. Assume +14:30, and I will communicate any changes here and, once the event is underway, discord.

Je suis DrP !

Power dropout earlyish in the race (pretty brief and only down to 75w or something) left me chasing on. They had just started to calm down at the front and I leapfrogged a bit and did get onto the back but then I was knackered. Next trip up the cobbly hill I could only just hold them and the lap after, I was out the back door.

Ah well. Still beat my PB from a year ago on same course (but I think that's the bunch/draft, not me)

I'll join in if there is enough B riders who want to race around at a slightly slower pace? I wouldn't want to join the A team as I think I'll be drifting off the back from the outset.
I'm happy to sit out this also so no need to split the faster riders to accommodate me 👍

Splitting them leads to better results - our "fast" team can do (very) well in latte, but it has to be max 3 Bs because with >3 B's it goes up to frappe and races against teams with 3xA and 5xBs - we have no A's, and whilst our faster riders are good at this they can't compete with that.

This is going to sound a bit grandiose, and I'll come back to it nearer the time but here goes: this will be particularly significant in a few weeks time when the Thurs TTT will be promoted as the World Championship. Our best latte team is potentially really very good, but we'll need 5Cs to ride with just 3 of our Bs to really compete at the pointy end that day (assuming people want to).

THere's no concrete info yet beyond a date (23/11). They already pushed that back a couple of weeks (presumably because of the pileup of workload that ZRL is causing them). No stripes for the winners as far as I know...

When’s the cutting off point for signing up team selection wise? I’m tempted to sign up but after injuring my ankle 3 weeks ago I could do with a bit more time to see how it’s feeling after yesterday’s race.
