Yeah, good ride tonight guys. Thanks for sticking with me, appreciate the help.

I need to up my fitness and lose a few kilos. I’m a little behind to where I was this time last year, but these types of rides around and above my FTP defo helps out.

I may take note of what my watch says this time and take it easy for 72 hours 😂

Is there any interest in the next two (novelty) TTTs?

Thurs 23rd - Bologna x2
Thurs 30th - Road to Sky

And if so - normal time?

I've entered 7.40pm this week, but if a consensus for a different time emerges quickly enough (by Weds) I can change.

Sign up sheet is clear: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E_0I0hulOaE2y34RpjckVCoT2Jks16vypeZ98L_LUw8/edit?usp=sharing

But probably best to discuss in here as well, at least to start with...

Sorry, I'm out - pretty much my busiest month ever coming up, I suspect.  Some virus, they say 🤷‍♂️

I’d be ok on this one, an earlier start time would suit.

I'm currently down with the Covid so tomorrow isn't happening. Realistically, the Alpe appears optimistic in 8 days' time but we'll see. Have a great Christmas all.

Yeah sorry, bit tardy this week ! - I am out for next week too, easing myself back in after injury a bit at a time.

See you in the New Year - have a great xmas.

I'd be up for a TT down the Alpe but I don't think I'll be joining in an up hill Alpe TT!

Happy New Year. More normal TTTs are back. Are we?

2 laps of Harrogate UCI this week, 28km. I've put a team in, Thursday 7.40pm

@yanboss only you and me, so I don't think we'll be riding. I'll probably enter something else this evening unless there's a sudden surge in interest.

2 and a half (@paul-s is the half) isn't enough. So @phil56 has hit the nail on the head - either a sudden surge of interest, or we try again next week. Realistically - the latter?

I’ll be back next week. Still school holidays here so an evening zwifting when I could be sitting on the sofa watching films with my son isn’t appealing!

Sorry I'm late to the post though it looks like I'd only make 3 any how.

I'll put myself on the list but otherwise I'll pick something up early doors as it looks like I'm working from home tomorrow and how

Let's try again. This week it is 3x Watopia Hilly, so 28km on a classic course.

I've entered a team for 7:40pm on Thursday.

Declare your availability here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E_0I0hulOaE2y34RpjckVCoT2Jks16vypeZ98L_LUw8/edit?usp=sharing

Nag your friends to join us.

(@stumpy01 you were marked as "in" on the sheet since I last looked - did you mean that for next Thursday?)

Hi all. Just @phil56 and @giggsmaster signed up so far. (Phil, I hope you are feeling OK!).

Any more takers?

I'm worried this is fading away. I am happy to keep coordinating as long as there is interest - but there's not much of that right now. If we were to stop, I'd be happy to coordinate again if there's call for a return in future. Thoughts?

I'm in sorry. I'm happy either way really @savoyad appreciate it can be a bit of a nuisance to do all the admin even if people are racing let alone when they're not.

If I were to guess I'd say the Christmas new year thing won't help so maybe don't worry about entries for a couple of weeks and see if people are back to normal ish and there's more uptake come February?

I'm still interested but having done only 2 or 3 rides in the last month after injury I am feeling my way back.

After tonights group thash I may know more, but 3 hilly is probably my worst nightmare when I am ready, and feels like a step too far for the third ride of the year.

If its still viable, barring a setback, I will be in the following week.

Next week is Wandering Flats which is fairly short but a good course for people to reintroduce themselves if people are doubtful. I cant make this week but would like it going if we can...

I'm persuaded that it's a lull rather than the end.

And I think we need to stop worrying about being fast!

We have 4 riders for this week. Tonight's catastophe might mean we get a couple more. So let's see. And keep taking it week to week...

@munkeymadness there's a new signup system. You need an account at WTRL linked to your zwift ID. Sign up here if you don't have that: https://www.wtrl.racing/registration.php

Then later I post an entry link in the thread which takes you to the zwift sign in page via WTRL to match you to the team. So no more team tags etc.

OK, we have 5 riders signed up: @phil56, @scaredypants, @munkeymadness, @dangeourbrain, @giggsmaster.

Others are very welcome to grab one of the remaining three slots: post in here so we can keep track.

Enter Pen D here: https://www.wtrl.racing/RacePass/?id=L05FMVo3cUpxbDRFRFF3R3gwN3FGZz09

Start delay is 13 mins (!) - so in the pen by 19:43 and off at 19:56

Hello all

Ive started Zwifting recently and could be interested in this as some motivation to push for higher levels of exertion (& sweat!!)

Im around 226 pounds with approx 200w ftp - would I be too slow?

@alibongo001 no one is ever too slow. If you make the effort to turn up and are interested in pushing yourself you'll have 5 team mates to help and support you

would I be too slow?

No such thing.

We're firmly interested in the Team bit of Team TT so more the merrier.

You may find you're sitting in the whole way round rather than pulling on the front to begin with (or when, like me, you're returning from being lazy and greedy for months) but with practice you'll get quicker anyhow.
(One or two have gotten much quicker since the whole thing started out. So much so we're too slow now and they joined another team 😉)

I’m one of the ‘slow’ ones and I can safely say that I never got left behind. The encouragement was so good it pushed my FTP up after the 1st event I did this winter. It definitely helps with the fitness side of things!

OK, so the team for tonight has grown: @dangeourbrain, @giggsmaster, @munkeymadness, @paul-s, @phil56, @scaredypants and (welcome!) @wozza

That leaves one more place for @alibongo001 if you want to jump straight in tonight. Claim it by clicking here: https://www.wtrl.racing/RacePass/?id=L05FMVo3cUpxbDRFRFF3R3gwN3FGZz09
(you'll first need a WTRL accout from here: https://www.wtrl.racing/registration.php)

I'll set out the info for newcomers:
- ride a road bike in-game (NOT a TT bike. You need the draft!). dress up as a bumblebee (again, in-game).
- comms will be via discord. The STW server is here: https://discord.gg/B8aAkFtj and the TTT voice channel is over on the left. If you can't make yourself heard, just listen. It can work without, but it's complicated...
- this is the MOST IMPORTANT BIT! The start is basically a workaround. You must be in the pen for the event start time (19:43). But each team has its own team start time. Once the countdown hits zero you MUST NOT GO! Instead, sit tight for the team's start delay, which tonight is 13 minutes. Don't move. Don't pedal. Don't start. Don't leave the pen until 13 minutes have passed. THEN you can start. There will be timekeeping and a countdown over discord.
- there's no pressure to ride on the front ("pull"), or win the event etc. Sit in, learn the ropes, see how the team works together.
- on the road @phil56 will look after you. If anyone can get the team to the end together, he can.

If there are more questions, just ask and they'll be answered quickly.

Good luck tonight!

What do you mean "(in game)" surely you mean "(in game as well)"? Or am I the only one racing whilst dressed like this

Cheers for this evening folks. Not a great course that, too much up out down and very little flat.

Held a nice group for the most part by the end of lap one but I think the scrappy start sort of ruined everyone. The w/kg numbers were bouncing all over the place and regularly dropped to zero on my screen.

On the subject of which bloody well done chasing back on Ian, looked like you'd completely disappeared then a few minutes later you were back like Lazarus.

Yeah thanks for the ride guys. Not an easy course for first timers. Well done. Lost all my connections whilst coasting. Managed to get them back after shutting companion app and restarting. Give me a tough 5min to catch back up but quite enjoyed it.

Yeah, cheers guys. Crazy little course to try and get some grouping together. On the climbs you tend to push too much and end flying through the pack, then slow down and end up out the back again, bit of a yo yo. Definitely flat course is easy to sort the group out.

I’ll take the blame for the 1st lap, I was too busy looking at what everyone was kicking out in the HR department!

Thanks for last night guys!

I found it an interesting experience:

Felt I worked harder than I did
Probably caused the poor start - I took setting off gently a little too literally
Not sure if you could hear me on the voice app thingy?
I found it difficult to gauge effort too = although this was my first Zwift group ride

Might try it again soon!

Cheers
Alastair

There's a maybe option on the sign-up sheet, as much by way of a test to see if it's little folks can, I've popped your name on the bottom and put you down as a massive.

Feel free to edit that mind, first of robbo's two links above.

As long as you are registered at WTRL @sturdylad (and your account there linked to your zwift account) there's nothing more to do. I'll post an entry link, tomorrow probably, and when you click it is uses your WTRL account to attach you to the team and automatically enters you in the zwift event.

It will probably take me a few events to get my TT head on, I've never done one on Zwift and it's probably 3 years since I stopped racing TT on the road

That's a pain - both @yanboss and the start delay. Take it easy Ian and don't be tempted to push your recovery too quickly. I found you have days when you feel you're over it, then you're knackered the next. Anyone know how @phil56 is getting on?

I did message Phil yesterday, not great but improving is I think how it's best summed up. (On the scale of how things could be that's to say not too bad either as I understand it).

He may be along to answer for himself in due course mind as you've paged him and being as I'm a married man I've little enough experience of answering for myself, let alone someone else so the above could all be utterly inaccurate.
