Weirdly for the first time in these events I had other riders on the list too, usually just see the greens. Not today though.

I see everyone but the meet-up group in green. It’s helpful and I’m starting to recognise the names. Also useful to look at the map and see where everyone is.

Normally that’s weeksy coming through the pack like a shark through a shoal of minnows 🙂

I should be good for Wednesday.

Tonight was pretty hard for me. Needed a wheel a couple of times but once back in the group I was doing ok... Then there was the sprint to the line. Me being me I stopped sprinting about 100m early as I thought I'd passed the line then realised the big balloon loop was actually there but hadn't popped up on screen yet. Anyway....got to the line and totally forgot I still had to carry on pedalling,I was beasted.Lol

Carried on riding but couldn't catch the group up so carried on freeriding and finished 3 laps.

Managed 676 watts in the sprint which is good for me, averaged 220 watts and hit 181hr...

So basically it turned into a race...for me anyway... In which I think I came last.Lol 😆

Thanks weeksy and all, was a good laugh. Hard work but thoroughly enjoyed it!

So look what Zwift has planned for future updates. Currently at Beta..

Zwift Clubs

Could make it easier to ride as a group and potentially have races etc..

A little in the latter stages yes.

I'm still debating the route for this next one, so don't take it for granted it will be what's shown. In order for us to keep the group together we need a flat course, that much is clear from the rides we've had up to now.
But that then just means it's a watt fest all ride and not really a challenge/thought in some ways ?

I thought we had London but we have New York due to timezones.

We could do something flat, something hilly, anything in between of course.

My first thought was NY 6 train, mostly flat course so will have some chance on the groups etc, but then i thought it may be chaos, so maybe spread it about a bit and put in some Watopia with hills, people group up who can and those who cannot like me, just do the best they can within their own limitations. With anything hilly though there will be splits and pockets of riders, of that there's no doubt at all.

So... It's down to you fellas to an extent. Flat, hilly, bit of both, really flat like out in the desert or really hilly even like the Alp.

What about "Out & Back Again"?

Zwift Insider Route Details

Flat start to warm-up, bit of climbing in the middle section and you could set the competitive ones off at the 36km tunnel?

I've just accepted my invite to Club Jarvis, at the minute it looks like a zwift specific strava feed but presumably the functionality will expand quite quickly.

Thanks weeksy, I'm up for tomorrow, cheers for invite.

I'll be making sure I don't get dropped this time... I hope. It was the sprint that did for me.Lol

You doing tempo again? I need to Google what that even means in biking terms.

Any other riders class themselves as mid D Cat riders? FTP around 239ish? We can try and help each other at the back. Keep these race snakes in sight.😁

EDIT: Kudos to who rode the mtb last night! Who was it btw?👍

Tempo is z3, so different for everyone (unless they have the same FTP as you).

Poopscoop - because zwift is based on w/kg someone could theoretically have FTP same as yours but be an A or B (if they were say 50kg)

Good point eskay.👍 Thanks for clarifying Tempo. By that definition I think I was in tempo for most of the ride.Lol

I should add I'm spot on 100kg at the moment with the ftp of 239.

I’d just like to get my excuses in early. Did a Z2 ride and my legs are dead. That last 15 minutes ruined me!

13 days consecutive riding - 10 on Zwift, 3 outside. I think I’ll be hanging with the bunch tomorrow!

Right, due to wanting as much of a grouping as possible. We're doing NY 6 train. So fairly flat.

Cheers weeksy, I'm in for tomorrow

as a (bit of an) at risk individual who's still working at a hospital I'm sticking to not riding hard and won't be "tempoing" at 500W for the final 10 minutes with the rest of you !

NY - that's road bikes then, right ?

Not gonna make this one.
Gotta drop car off for MOT (not had news that they are shut, although will check).
Probably drive car over and then do a 10km run instead of riding.

Will be more than likely up for the next one though....

Hope this is ok Weeksy?

I set up a Discord channel tonight as I can't bloody sleep.

Worth giving it a go tonight if anyone wants? Discord lets you use voice chat if you so wish.

Here's the link to join. Just install the app on your mobile/pc beforehand.

The link times out after 24 hours.

https://discord.gg/YYaQmJ

Not used Discord much before so not sure how well it will work. Setup on my phone at moment but can install on pc if better.

I will be listening on it but not talking much as the fans drown out my voice! I need a headset or such.

Just an experiment really guys. Feel free to try.👍

Don’t think we will be able to wear bumblebee kit. Zwift April fool this year is compulsory 80s retro bikes and kit.

Would it be ok using an mtb?

Just fired it up on my Mac to have a look, love the retro bikes but the shitty blurry graphics (some people online are saying you're meant to wear 3d glasses?!) and VCR effect make it looks like it's going to be vomit-inducing & borderline unusable! Loads of people complaining online.

I also had a look on my iPad, and it seems totally normal (no retro bikes or video effect). Possibly because I haven't bothered to d/l the latest update yet? So if you haven't updated your iPad yet - DON'T!!

Not really related to the Zwift meet-up, but just wondering - who uses zwiftpower?
What is the point of it? Is it just for race stats? I remember looking into it when i first signed up to Zwift, but never actually signed up.

Zwiftpower is basically what's 'right' and wrong in racing in that context.

A mate did the Watopia tour race yesterday in D.

The first 10 riders over the line finished on over 4w/kg in D... one was close to 6w/kg.

Zwiftpower filters them all out of the 'results'

It also has leagues, rankings, points etc.

Anyone finishing outside of Cat limits are either kicked out, or moved up etc. People without HRMs can't be on the podium and people without smart turbos cannot either.

It's basically what's the 'fair' representation of the results after the rules are applied.

I did a stage 1 of Watopia race last night but it still hasn't shown up on Zwiftpower, my stage 4 & 5 efforts are there though. Weird.

Super ta. 7pm should give me time for (mini house bound) circuit training before hand too so hopefully see some folks there, if you're really lucky you might get to hear me breathing like an old fashioned dirty crank call over discord too.

ZwiftPower is for those doing the races really.
Some races as said - no HR monitor then no result. But some races do allow you to result - my HR strap broke last week, and Amazon delivery not scheduled till May!!
So no HR till then. But I was disqualified in one race, but been shown in others .. podium places too; so I think HR is certain races only.

Same here. Wife had an asthma attack today. Have got her settled now and got some steroids from the docs to help her out (she has had a cough and we have been self isolating but coming to the end of that so docs were ok the prescribe) but I don’t think I am in the right frame of mind as has been pretty stressful. Little man goes to bed between 7 and 8 and I’m not going to make her walk up and down the stairs just so I can have a bike ride!

Enjoy yourselves. Let me know when the next one is on.

Slowpuncheur - thats very generous, and thank you very much. But I can manage not wearing a HR monitor for awhile - my podium results are less frequent than the races that disqualify me for not wearing one, and I more concerned about my average watts than results if I am honest.

But big thanks all the same.

I'm not going to be able to make tonight I'm afraid weeksy.

Not feeling at all well. Not virus related Im very glad to say, stomach related.

I'll have Discord running though if anyone wants to try it though.

If you do, your best to click on your name in the app, then the cog (for settings), scroll down to "video and call" and tick the box labelled "press to talk".... Otherwise your Mic will go hot anytime it hears a noise.... Which will cheese off other people and potentially embarrass yourself to boot.😉

I think only 3 or 4 have clicked the invite link anyway but at least it will give those that want to a chance to try it.👍

Anyone having trouble getting into the Voice channel on Discord need to click on the STW icon and select "STW Voice" channel rather than the General channel.

That "should" work when you try next time. General chat is for text messages only.

Hope everyone had a great ride!👍

Thank you for arranging that Weeksy. I clearly need to work on the staying with a group bit.

I kept yo yo-ing back and forwards, every time I dropped off I over shot catching up, then dropped off the back again over shoot and so on. That or chasing down people who, when I got there, turned out not to be in our group at all

I made the mistake last time of assuming Alcock would go for the sprint to finish the last 30 seconds ... and he didnt, so I felt a bit silly going off on my own. So made sure it was a sensible group finish this time.

Hopefully catch yous next time.

Great ride again Steve. I was surprised how much the first climb blew everyone apart.

I had a great ride with Ian W for a large chunk and then foolishly decided to try to catch DrP and Ivan. That nearly killed me and I had cramp at the end of it. Props to DrP for riding the MTB!!
