What can you recommend?
At the moment it’s long trousers in to work and shorts home.
The endura humvees are an obvious contender but having the 3/4s I reckon the material is too thin for mid winter.

How about a dirtsuit with zip offs? all in one romper suit with breathability and total waterproofing from Dirtlj, even comes with a hood that fits over the helmet

Humvee trousers are OK. A bit baggy so can pass as ‘normal’-ish if not caked in dirt.

Might be a bit thin for a Scottish winter, but once you’re moving they’re fairly warm.

Only problems I see are: endura durability (or lack thereof); not at all water resistant.

Good luck.

Yeah, so you wouldn't need the zip-off legs in winter, Humvees for now (half price on Wiggle) and some softshell trousers for midwinter?

Don't know if they still do them, but Boardman MTB trousers with zip off section around the knee from around '18, are great for changeable weather.

I use all sorts of combo's - this morning was shorts, winter boots and autumnal windproof front jersey.
I add knee/leg warmers on occasion.
I use full winter bibs.
I add full waterproof shorts on top of winter bibs.

I have an issue of in to work has +30m/-100m of altitude, but home is +130m/-30m (I take different routes). This morning was chuffing cold on the legs - but will be toaty up the hill home..

I picked a pair up in the sales a while back. Not seen them since, which is a shame as the fit is great on me, they're quite lightweight, I've never actually unzipped the legs.
They also have what look like the poppers for Endura liners. Never tried as I don't use them.
