Went out yesterday and the thumb shifter isn't returning, if you get what I mean, I have to manually pull it back. Is this a terminal problem, or fixable?

If the spring is gone its basically for the bin, however it might also be that the cable is not seated right inside causing it to snag. Stop using it (before the damage becomes terminal), open it up and free the cable.

Other things to check for- have you bent the lever,causing it to rub, or has the shifter or brake lever moved, and started pressing together?

I did have a crash the last time out, but it shifted fine on the way home?
