As above really, are there any distinguishing marks on the bodies themselves to tell whether I have the 36t or 28t version? Box it came in (bought new) has a tick in the 36t box but i'm buggered if I can get it to shift into the top sprockets on my 11-36 10spd cassette. Could some unobservant lackey have ticked the wrong box or am I just shite? I've changed a number of xt and deore derailleurs with no issues, this is my first zee though and one with shadow plus (lah dee dah, i know) and the clutch is turned off for installation.

After two hours of faffing i'm losing the will to live, thought i'd best crack out the ale and have a minute away from it and consult the hive mind.

Ta for reading if you got this far.

What have you tried faffing with?

Limit screw set correct? Does it shift to 36 with no cable and just pushing it up with your fingers?

The mech is the same either version.
The difference is in the bracket that attaches it to the frame - if you look at it it's blank for the fr version and stamped dh for the dh version. If it's dh you'll need the other bracket.

I fitted a zee to my hardtail this morning.
Running a 36 up front and 11-40 on the back .

The box was ticked fr (36), on inspection I saw DH cast into the back of it somewhere which made me a little concerned but fitted and works fine .

When first bolted on it would only move 6 or so clicks in which was because the l screw was wound far too far in.
Set the screws and indexed perfectly.

I've had a long cage shimano xt rear mech delivered before when it was clearly marked as medium on the box so possibly a packing an error!

Here's mine it says DH on the bracket. I am worried now, although it works perfect on an 11-40

Thanks for the replies guys.

Runs fine in smallest cog then when I shift it up its ok till the 8th gear then jams up. B screw adjustment just pulls the cage into the biggest rear cog if i try to give it any movement. Going to put a bit of extra chain in, see if that gives it a bit more room to manoeuvre. Not able to push it all way up with cable off, can't see a DH stamp on it though 😕

The L screw is all the way out, just linking chain back up then I'll give it another whirl.
