Hi ive recently bought a YT Jeffsy Al two 27.5 and it came with a sram 2x11, If i was to swap it to a single ring would the chain line be real harsh? its got a 10-42 on the rear. I can decide between a 32 or 34, i have a very good level of fitness.
Cheers!
Not sure if you are wondering if the chainline would be optimised for the cassette or if the gearing would be a limiting factor.
On the first point I don't know if the one ring would seat exactly in the middle of the cassette but there could be spacers to make sure it does.
On the second point in depends where and how you ride. I am old and fat and I am very happy with 32t x 10-42t but I am only on the South Down. Range is fantastic but I will always favour climbing gears if I have to make a compromise as if you run out of gears or road riding is important, then that's not really mountain biking I guess.
Standard blackspire cinch narrow wide chainring sits fairly central on my jeffsy 29. Same race face aeffect cranks.
Eat your weetabix the morning you plan on taking the cranks off though. Needed an extension bar to get the crank and chainring lock ring off. Used a threaded rod to keep the bb tool in place to take the ring off to stop it slipping too.
