Looking for a freeride/enduro and am currently torn between a YT Capra vs Banshee Rune,(custom build) both very good bikes from reviews just wondering if anyone has any views on which one to go for?
I own a rune but there are kind of difficult to compare. Capra is carbon Rune is alloy.
I can't say for the rune but I have the green capra comp and it is very, very good. Not just on spec for the price but in actual use. Comparing to a 2010 sx trail or a 2013 norco sight 650b it descends and climbs better than both (although the norco was a great bike let down by cheap dampers) In fact it goes downhill so good I've sold my dh bike.
Only thing I would say is I would have got the cheapest one (2x10 transmission) if it wasn't sold out when I ordered, 200 quid plus when I need a new 11spd cassette is hard to stomach!
I see bike tart have the rune frame for 1399, looks very nice and you could probably build one up for a similar price to the yt if you prefer aluminium.
And the Rune doesn't already have a reputation for being a bit cracky 😉
they only get a rep for cracking because people say it's broken, don't usually hear people pipe up and say they've had a bike for 1/2/3 years and it hasn't cracked yet. As the old marketing saying goes 'good service people tell 2/3 folk, bad service and they tell 10'.
Cheers for comments, philfive how do you get on with your Rune?
I don't think you can go wrong - similar suspension designs (good anti-squat, progressive leverage), similar geometry. Carbon fibre Capra is lighter, alloy Rune may be more crash resistant (generally alloy frames are). Love my Banshee Spitfire, wouldn't swap it for anything!
My rune is great, pedals fantastic and doesn't feel like the big bike it is. It's pretty bombproof as well, as I found out at PMBA enduro 🙂
