I’m trying to decide if I’m an L or XL in YT sizes.

The Large is back in stock... and I’m very keen.
I’m 6’2 with an inseam of 35” , I really am between sizes because of my height.... but nearly all the Geo of the L compared to my last bike seems to suggest it’s larger.
My last bike felt very chuckable but not comfy on long rides.
Any Large or XL owners out there?

I am just under five ft ten and I ride a large with a 35mm stem and it’s perfect for me. Seatpost has about 2 inches exposed (before dropper)

I would think you want an xl

I'm 6 foot and have a large. I reckon xl would be for you. Try searching the forum for a couple of previous threads on the subject though, I know it got discussed in a bit more depth.

Also on pinkbike forum there's a huge thread on YT capras.

I think you might be right but something is taking into account is the Capra has a higher front end with 30mm more travel than my last bike.

Not sure if you can see this but this was how I was on my last bike, if the cockpit was higher surely I’d be less stretched

That’s a good shout il check out that forum, I know it’s my choice and I tend to prefer a smaller frame so it’s more chuckable but don’t want to restrict movement, last bike was a Large....

Also the YT has a 3mm longer seattube which would give me more room for my legs as it makes the frame taller as such, and also the XL isn’t in stock either 🙁

Sounds like you've talked yourself into getting a Large 😆

I had a large. I'm 5'10 and it didn't feel roomy. I'd say an xl would be the one for someone 6'2

I'm just over 6' and ride a large. It feels perfect to me but my son says it looks a bit short. You should get an XL I reckon. Fantastic bike though.

I'm 6"3' with 36" inside leg. On a XL with 170mm drop Reverb there is still 2" of seat post showing between clamp and collar.
Doesn't feel stretched out (with 40mm stem).
If you're near Halifax you're welcome to try it for size

5ft11 normal proportions.. I ride a large its spot on but could be tempted to go xl.. so you're 100% xl

6"2' here and on an XL, got about 20mm of seat post out with a 150mm reverb. Doesn't feel too big, if anything I would prefer something with a longer reach. Like above, massive thread on pikebike and the consensus is to size up if in-between sizes.

Thanks so much fellas, definitely sounds like even though I thought I could get away with an L I do need to be an XL to be really comfortable! Which is a shame as I don’t think they’ll be back in stock, sounds like I’ll definitely have to look at another bike, another one of my options....

I'm 6'2". Just had a look at the chart & there is no way I would want to be on a large. Even the XL is smaller than my large frame, and most other 'normal' stuff now.

I'm 5'10" and on a large and even to me it sometimes feels short on the top tube. Seat tube is too high tho. Defo XL, shame they're out of stock

For all their hype Capras have pretty old style geometry and are bloody short. I'm 6ft 2 34inch inside leg and recently sat on an XL Capra, surprised that I felt cramped on the TT.

Hopped straight onto my XL Santa Cruz and that was stretched out in comparison (Santa Cruz aren't exactly renowned for being long either).

I’m a good bit shorter than you at 5’7 and went by the charts on the site.
It certainly feels shorter than I’m used to and I notice it when sat in the saddle rhe most but as soon as things point downwards it feels spit on to me and given what it’s best at this works for me.
It’s taken a bit of getting used to but every bike I’ve ridden is the same in that regard. 20 mins into a ride and it fine.

Don't understand why they haven't updated the geometry yet.

It's been the same for four model years now, yeah?

Anyway - get the XL if you're set on one. But maybe consider the Radon Swoop instead.

Centre of bars to centre of seatpost is the same on my lad's medium 2016 Capra to my old 2012 large Trek Session 88 DH bike
So YTs are a bit shorter than other makes but they're still long compared to a few years ago.

I am looking at the Swoop but the 20 inch of the 8 is sold out. I am confident that it may come back in because previously the was only upto 18 available and then when I looked today they had 22's in stock! Maybe the 20 will come back in!

Well......bizarre post! Found someone with a Capra in Large.....fits great! Not too small at all, so just ordered it while they still have the stock in...

Not being able to ride has absolutely sucked and can’t wait for the delivery!

Seatpost wasn’t too high and had slight bend in my arms while in the saddle. Whereas my last bike had me fully stretched in the saddle so definitely not the right size. Get the feeling I have long legs but short arms....

I have long legs compared to my torso and the Capra doesn't feel short to me.

I'm 6' on a large - I'd definitely say you'd be XL, but if you've tried one, then fair enough. Pavement tests are nothing like real riding though (obviously). Years ago I bought a Kona Lava Dome - felt great outside the shop, was a pig on the trails until I changed the cockpit

This is what I thought too but his bike looked quite a bit bigger than my last one and even when next to each other when I had the TR his was a taller bike, height of seattube etc and then when I rode it I realised that the XL would’ve had me reaching far too much. I think I must have quite short arms!

I may be proven wrong when I get it but I’ve confirmed the geo of the 2015 I rode to the 17 one and there’s virtually nothing in it. It literally is different for everyone but their website does say Large does fit upto 6’2.

I had two other cyclists with me too and they both agreed that the XL would be too big, the L feels the right size but also chuckable too!

I’m 6ft and felt really cramped on my mates L Capra when took it for a spin, wired sizing that’s for sure.

Unless you’ve the build of a T-Rex I can’t see it fitting by a mile.

Whatever you do, dont ride an XL. You will then have to sell your L.

If your tall with proportionately longer legs, perhaps the higher stack of the 29 Jeffsy may suit you even better .

Hmm I did look at the Jeffsy, not the 29’ers.....not a fan myself much prefer 27.5.
Maybe the XL might be better but I can’t see how a longer reach would be better for me if I’d be stretched like I was on my Tranny

Hi just as an update, my Capra has arrived, took around 2 weeks from order. The large frame is the right size for me too which is a shock but it does just work. I think I must have short arms!!

You probably don't.

This place is full of folk who crave long bikes because it's fashionable to. Their recomendations would be too long for me too.
and I don't have short arms either.

You just don't like fashionably long bikes.

Long bikes aren't just fashionable, they're proper sized.

And yet not to everyone's taste.

Just like all fashion.
