Apologies if there has been a similar thread to thos, but haven't found anything similar...

The YT Jeffsy has caught my eye, so was wondering what peoples real life experiences are with them, good and bad. Also, as I appear to be a 'tweener on their sizes, I think I'll have to try them out. Has anyone experienced their demo days and do they run them regularly?

Cheers

They had 2 demo days last year so you might have to wait a while before getting a demo on one.

I have a 2019 CF Pro Race 29 with some upgraded bits and love it, I'm 6ft 3in and could have gone for the XL or XXL, went for the XXL in the end.

General rule of thumb with YT is go one size bigger than you'd normally be on another bike, I'd normally be a medium but on a YT I'm a large.

As for demo days, I went to the one at Gisburn last year and the only queues seemed to be for the Decoy, most other bikes didn't take long at all. I don't think they do that many demo days though.

Gisburn and FOD were the only 2 last year.

Thank you. Hopefully they announce the dates soon. Did they have all the models available? I'd quite like to see if I can tell any difference between the Al and the carbon

Yeah, they had a good selection at Gisburn. Might be worth seeing if anyone local to you has one you could try.

I had a Jeffsy 29. I now have a Santa Cruz 5010.

The Jeffsy was faster. The 5010 is a nicer colour.

Warranty issues are a bit of a pain (mate's bike not mine) but do get sorted in the end.

I would size up rather than down. They had me in the middle of M/L for my 2017 Capra. Went for the L and glad I did. M would have been to small I think.

Only issues I have had have been with the E13 wheels. Rear one kept snapping spokes and axle reducer rounded. Dealt directly with E13, who were good. Would avoid E13 wheels if possible!

I've got a 2018 yt capra cf Pro 27.5, it's been really good, no major issues.

I snapped a spoke in the rear wheel quite early on, and the rear brake needed bleeding as soon as the bike was delivered, but apart from those two minor issues it's been great, I haven't had to swap any parts out.

I Won't comment on sizing as it's a different bike to the jeffsy.

I have a Capra and a Jeffsy. Both have been great to ride. The E13 hub on the Jeffsy kept needing to be tightened up, my LBS contacted E13 who sorted it under warranty free of charge. Once my LBS sent my Reverb back and that was done under warranty as well. Both cases these were sorted in a week all in the UK. Nothing needs to be sent back to YT.

Dealing with YT was fine, they kept me uptodate for delivery and answered all my emails either the same day or the following day.

Demo days are great. I did one with a mate to keep him company and ended up buying the Jeffsy there and then it was such a good ride.

Size wise go to any trail center, loads of riders there will let you try one out to sort sizing. Thats what I did for the Capra, for the Jeffsy I was at the Swinley demo.

Jeffsy pro race 29 here, less than 6 months old and the frame is currently back in Germany due to a crack I found under the downtube guard whilst cleaning the bike. I hear component warranty can be sorted through the UK distributor in most cases, frames have to go back to Germany. I knew the risk of this before I bought it so can't really complain, although that may change depending on the result of the warranty claim as I can't say how or when the crack was caused but haven't had any bad crashes. Prior to this I've had no issues with the bike, I'm 5'8" and on a large, size charts said I was med or large but I reckon med would be too short personally

It's cool how they've dropped the seat tubes to allow people to size-up easily.

Shame the chainstays don't get longer lower down the size scale though.

Few friends have them and no real probs, seem to be well-balanced bikes in terms of how they ride.

The chainstays on the Jeffsy are 5mm longer on the XL and XXL sizes.

I picked up a 2019 Jeffsy 29 pro carbon bike in last years sale, I'm 5'9 and went for a large. Fit is fine, swapped out the drive train and brakes for my own, the sram ones that came off need a bleed and hoses swapping over for uk L + R braking.

No probs so far but prepared for the wheels to go pop at some point.

As for the bike, it's no better or worse than the 2017 Orange Five it replaced, that's according to my feel from riding and strava times around a few trail centres and the peaks!
