I follow that there Dream bike competition on Facefriends and occasionally buy a ticket. It got me thinking of what my money no object dream bike would be.

I seem to be an anomaly when looking at the posts on the page as I don’t want a carbon wondersled with all the travel or an eBike. I reckon my dream bike is a Swarf Contour. That or a Ti HT from Stanton. Does this mean I’ve been on here too long and have become a niche monger?

What bike would you have if money allowed?

A high single pivot, carbon, 130mm 29er, designed in the UK.

*whistles nonchalantly*

29er version of my Orange ST4 please - so 120/100mm, modern geometry, fun and giggles all the way, efficient ride.

3T Exploro with all the bells and whistles, or one of those stupidly expensive limited run McLaren Spesh road bikes.

Custom ti hardtail, probably from Seven, build with German A forks, Chris King/Middleburns/Hope brakes.
Done the money-no-object carbon full suss superbike thing a decade ago, ended up with a fragile bike I was scared to ride in case I broke it, couldn't afford to replace anything

Definitely no carbon...

Definitely not a 29er (I know they are on-trend but they really aren't any better than 27.5)...

I'm totally smitten with AXS so that would be there...

I ride like total beginner so I reckon 130mm is all I'm needing...

Apart from that, absolutely no idea what the bike would actually be if it was money no object.

I'd have a modern Geometron style one of these...

29" wheels, Ohlins coil suspension, Maxima brakes.

Cavalerie Blackbird but in aluminium, and with the geometry of a Bird AM9. Oh, and able to fit a bottle and small enduro frame bag too.

Said it before but a Yeti ASR 5 29 er in ALU. They'll never do it though. They'd sell Brazilians and have to warranty loads less that their switch infannity gubbins (assuming the rear triangles stayed sticked together). Basically a rapid short-mid travel29 er with a progressive link actuated single pivot that looks well fit in ally please, that weighs half as much as a transition smuggler/Kona process 111

I think in the DBC you can split the money. I like the look of the new Evil Following. Anything left over and I'd be looking at what road bike I could afford as well 😉🤑

I’m quite liking Firefly on Instagram.

But what I’d really like is one of the week-or-so framebuilding courses where I’d learn some awesome stuff and walk out with a singlespeed road/gravel bike that actually fitted me.

Something I'd barely ever ride in honesty, a nice 180mm super destroyer of trails way out of my depth.

YT Tues maybe.

I guess the hope 130 isn’t available as the lad won that last week.

A Matt black tallboy with kashima forks/shock and an axs seatpost
Rather than the piss yellow or a thunderstormiscomingpurple colours on offer..

I’ve got the other bits to build

Happy to say I've got it, I guess changing from XX1 eagle to AXS might be slightly better but delighted with what I've got. Maybe I should try some other bikes but happy to say I'm happy. And have been since I started riding Turners in 1994!

Been hankering for an Ibis Mojo HD4 in Red for some reason recently... Maybe I should buy a ticket 🙂

Somebody somewhere knows what happened to my Raleigh Dynatec Diablo c.1992 stolen from my garage. Titanium, rigid, thumbshifters, bar ends.
... Pretty sure it doesn't actually get any better than that.
