Flight delayed an hour due to technical issues. Turns out tyre/wheel showed a fault so they replaced it. Whilst we are sat aboard. Was a bit slow with the camera but it was off with one and on with another.

They didn't even do a balance or the tracking it seems 😯

@Basil 🙂 I couldn't check from where I was sitting !

Well it seemed to work ok as the pilot didn't manage the smoothest landing and it all seemed to hold together. It's quite impressive they can change the wheel that quickly really. Plans full of passengers and luggage. We'll have to ask @dan

Had a delay at LHR once en route to Amsterdam so they could change a tyre. Then when changing it they decided another one needed to be changed, so had to go off and get another spare wheel.

We sat on the tarmac for longer than the flight time.

Tyres were already fitted and fully inflated in a cage in a workshop and we used to get them at 50psi. Once fitted we fully inflated them with Nitrogen to working pressure of 190-210 psi dependant upon aircraft. Although they should allegedly be safe it still used to concern me pumping them up to full pressure!

In the cheap seats. What shoes, was flying in my sailing gear having come straight from the event, had been wearing it for 4 days so not good news for other passengers. Business not worth paying for / using airmiles for a 60 min flight. Plane was cheaper than the train.

Sorry Jamba - missed this one! Rather than a tyre change, think slow version of a F1 wheel change. Every landing puts a little flat spot on the tyres as they spin up, so once they reach the limit, they will be changed on the turn-round between flights. I imagine the wheels are balanced in the workshop post tyre change. I've never had to report a 777 for wheel tracking so far!
