About to sort my bike out for my trip to the alps and need help on tyre choice. Not 'what tyres out of all the options?', more 'this or that'.

So:

Option 1: Part-worn (used last year) High Rollers - 2.35 dual ply, S/Tacky and Maxxpro, run tubed.

Option 2: Rubber Queen 2.2 UST's, new run tubeless.

Worried I'm going to destroy a £45 tyre or two with option 2, plus is tubeless a good idea on the DH runs? Running a 5 and nothing worse than the occasional red run!!

Normally I'd advocate tubeless, but for simplicity and reliability in the Alps, Dual ply and tubes takes the win... option 1 all the way~ save the rubber queens until your return.

Option 1. Tyre burp in alps would not be amusing

I's go with option 1 because they're bigger tyres. That said, I've run tubeless in the alps without issues.

Pretty unanimous then!! Tubed HR's it is.

bluebird - the two tyres actually come up the same width with the RQ's a bit taller. Same size in ERTO!!
