Plenty of trails around Grinton and Swaledale in general. There's lots on Harkerside - you could probably ride the "same" loop every day and not do the same trail twice, there's tracks everywhere. Ask Stu at DBC for recommendations for routes. Actual recommended routes? Grab a map and ...

1. DBC up Fremington Edge to Hurst, go west and descend to Langthwaite, track up to Cringley Hill then down Angry Man (look for Novia Scotia and Thiernswood Hall on the map) to Healaugh (can be tricky to get the right line higher up)

2. From DBC along south side of Swale to Stubbin Farm then big climb up to shooting lodge on Harkerside then either left and up before finding pipeline descent and traverse back to Grinton or right and circle round to climb over to Apedale and from crossroads at bottom of this dale turn left and back over to Grinton.

3. From Surrender bridge head up the gill to Level House then west over the top to descend Bunton Hush (technical and rocky) to Gunnerside mines. Now basically go downstream to Potting and the wonderfully named Barf End and contour Low Row Pasture to Blades, climb a little and follow a track back to your start.

Things are pretty dry around here ATM, not dusty but certainly not a mud bath, tyres are *just* leaving a slight impression in the ground.
