Ok. I want a full suss for all day Gheycoremincelite™ Style of riding..
I'm not gnar, rad, sic, or anything else, I just want a nice full suss for long days in the hills..
Ideas please?
Hasn't the SB75 been superseded by the SB5C? If you're going to buy a super bike you don't buy a second-tier / out of date one.
There are a lot of cheaper bikes from other manufacturers. The main reason to buy one of the ones you listed is because you want it, not because someone who already owns one says it's good (which is never an unbiased view).
I will say the same as I do when people ask me this question as a very happy Pivot Mach6 owner, get a Giant Trance!
5010. You know it makes sense. Go on, you deserve it...
Not in any way, shape or form am I biased.

I'd probably get something like a Kona Process 111, Transition Smuggler or Banshee Phantom, in ascending order of preference, if I were doing the riding you describe.

Evil following looks nice
Demo them, buy the one you like the best. I wouldn't trust this lot to pick anything.
Most people I ride with who are not 'gnar, rad, sic, or anything else' have moved onto 29ers with great success.
Problem is, I think Santa Cruz/Pivot and Yeti are all due to launch new ones.
As you've listed some pretty expensive bikes, you may not be happy with the weight of the Phantom, Evil or Kona Process 111, but maybe worth riding to see.
Also:
Specialized Stumpjumper evo
Turner Czar

Tallboy LT?

That Kona looks awesome. I wanted a bike like that for years. If I still rode MTBs then I'd have one. I had an old Specialized Supercross which was a similar sort of thing, but far too heavy and small for riding up hill on.
Transition make a nice bike called a Bandit or a Scout, that also looks really good.
But, if you prefer style over substance, then a Yeti or a Santa Cruz might be a better bet.
Plus one for 5010, although I have the Bronson this would be my second bike choice. Must not buy must not ......
I'd be looking at a Turner Czar personally...when I move off my 5-Spot, I'll have to consider it
Not that it isn't a nice bike, but that Medium SB75C is not actually a C, you can see the aliminium weld marks and no where in the ad does it mention carbon.
Cracking bike though, for probably close to half the price of what a SC 5010 carbon in a similar spec would be.
That blacked out 5010 posted above is lovely.
Problem is, I think Santa Cruz/Pivot and Yeti are all due to launch new ones.
I thought the new Mach 429 and ASR were out already?
What about a carbon Horsethief/Spearfish?
Nomad was the release and cheaper Bonson and 5010. Same bike different carbon

Really?
That explains why Merlin are banging them out dirt cheap then I guess?

think there may be some reduces ones around atm
I love Yeti, but the SB75 (only ever available in aluminium) is a bit, well, porky. If you're after carbon, the SB5C is awesome. Very very awesome.
If you're not in a hurry to buy, the advice above to demo as many as possible is spot on, I reckon. I know people with 5010s and they love them. Equally, I saw a couple of Transition Smuggler riders at Swinley today who looked very muddy and happy.

I don't have any inside information or anything, but I don't really see why they would have two similar bikes in the line-up (as well as the 575). Same wheel size, travel etc, but the SB5c is newer. From everything that's been released about the switch infinity, it seems as though Yeti consider it evolution / upgrade not parallel technology. I suppose they might keep the aluminium SB75, since I don't think there's any mention of an alu SB5C / 6C.
Either way, I wouldn't buy an SB75 unless it was significantly cheaper than the SB5c.
I love my Rocky Mountain Instinct but a few of my friends have the Altitude. We ride everything from trail centres to steep natural stuff to xc races. These bikes can do it all and give you a big grin.
IBIS mojo HD3?

Oh I didn't realise there was a carbon 429 out. I guess that is giong to stick for a while then.
The ASR - I don't really know where that sits in the range. It's not a replacement to the SB95 is it? I'm betting they'll bring out an SB9c or something soon.
Sounds like you should consider a 29er OP.
But you'll probably say something like "they just don't appeal to me".
Mach 429SL isn't a replacement for the Mach 6.
One is a XC 100mm travel 29er, the other is a 150mm 650b enduro/AM bike.

That, and the fact that the SB75 was always a rush job - they took the SB66 frame, reduced the travel to 130mm (making it even heavier in the process) and upped the wheelsize to 650b.

Yep - daft really. But the 26" sales had fallen through the floor, so they had to do something. Hurt their reputation in my eyes though. Same with the Ibis Mojo HDR.

Yeah, understand their reasons, just wouldn't recommend the product. SB5c is a world apart.

More like the SB95 frame. hence why if you at the back end you could fit a fat bike tyre in there & still have a decent amount of clearance.
SB66 front with a 95 back. But that depends who you ask.
