Hi there,
Considering doing the above, with a fox 36 and flows with 2.3 minions on.
As far as I can see it would mean a BB drop of 12mm - from 345.4mm to 333.4mm.

So is it do-able to will I die? . . .

As a temporary measure, it's probably not the end of the world, but you'll probably get a fair bit more crank-strike than usual.
If you're gonna do it, run a chain device with a skid-plate, just for a bit of security.

It'll work because the SB6C doesn't normally have a super low BB but it will be low. How long are your cranks?

My Cranks are 175mm (measured from center of bb to pedal axle), and I have a bash ring would that suffice?

Unless you are running 160mm cranks, would not be that bad i believe

I was thinking about doing something like this with an SB5c or a Bronson. Some big tyres on it and it will be great.

I had a very quick sit/bounce on a fully built SB6c in a shop. The fit was excellent and the lack of heft compared to my Five AM was really noticeable.
If the frame would work with my current components I would be very happy indeed.
Just so I do not do it completely blind I am awaiting confirmation of a demo ride.

Why? Might as well fit the proper parts if spending that much on a frame.

Because at the moment I can afford the frame but not the added forks/decent wheels. Personal choice but I like the look, sizing and weight and want to know if it would work. I do not beleive in debt for the sake of it. Rather have spending money 😀

That's the thing, decent frames are expensive and these days you also need new forks, wheels and tyres so it ends up being too expensive to do all in one go.

So,
a 333mm bb would be okay and I will not die then?

We're all gonna die someday. I doubt that will cause it though.

It will ride better with the wheels it was designed around, and be prepared to smash your cranks a bit. But I doubt it'll kill you.

It's a pretty big frame down by the BB though, so I would definitely run an lg1 or similar, just for the peace of mind that you won't smash the shit out of your frame.

Fortunately the old Fox 36s are almost as tall as the new 27.5 ones, otherwise the bike would be even lower to the ground. Once you figure in the sag the SB6C will be almost an inch closer to the ground than your Five. Is that too low for you? There are quite a few current bikes which are that ground hugging but it won't work for everyone!

Compared to most of the cutting edge enduro style bikes the SB6C is that bit higher in the BB and it's also got a lot of anti-squat, particularly if you run an easier chain ring (it looks like it's designed for a 36 for Mr Graves et al to race), so if I was going to pick a 27.5 6" bike to put 26" wheels on then it would be one of the top choices.

Thanks for the replies. Pine tree thanks for your suggestions and Chifegrooveguru thanks for your analysis which is far more in depth than I would ever go to.
if I make the move I will let you know how I go!

What is the tyre clearance like? A 26 wheel will have the tyre closer to the axle so depending on the chainstay shape you may get fouling or be limited in the width you can run.

I had a similar problem with cost and being unwilling to go into debt I saved for 4.5 years and then bought exactly what I wanted rather than have a rolling compromise for a few years. Having that much time to decide really helps you get things straight in your head.

Some bikes these days are nearly that low by design any way (eg orbea rallon 338mm) , so you might have to be careful with your pedal stroke timing, but i reckon it'll be fine.
