The first pictures of the new Yeti 29er have just been shown on facebook, it looks just like it should, an SB5c with real size wheels! Fantastic. Hopefully all the reviews come out today as well, hurry up enduromag..

Not just me that's been getting excited waiting for this to be released 🙂

Looks great and exactly what I was waiting for. The SI version of the SB95. Think BikeMag have an early review.

£3k for the frame.

I can't get excited about that. It's mental.

Just to fix the obviously lacking aspect of this thread:

It'll be great, I'm sure, but way out of my price range.

The words 'yeti' and 'carbon' together brings on my tourettes...

I'm out!

Looks expensive to me, especially when you understand that the main point of SI was to avoid having to pay patent payments on VPP (which is what the old system was) to Santa Cruz / Intense

I'm collect a custom built SB5 at the weekend.
Have I made a terrible mistake?

Depends if you demo it before hand and tried a few others. If the SI is, as it says, to avoid 'squat' I'd say yes. All my recent bikes avoid squat can't see why I'd need all that extra maint, huge cost and weight for something that's been banished from bikes for sometime. I ride a SC not adverse to cost. VPP works fine

Yep - test rode 5 (& 6) and it was the best rear suspension I have tried.
I do like the look of the new 45 though......

Good news, so many buy based on cost or reviews or opinion or forum advice. It's handy but don't beat actually riding the bike.

Cool. I wonder which part of it they've made out of cheese this time. I'm going to guess chainstays again.

Love the idea but as the frame costs more than I built my entire Phantom for I think I'm going to pass. Absolute crazy money.

dont get me wrong, if someone handed me a carbon yeti i would be smiling from ear to ear

Looks great, but I'm still not convinced by the SI system. Seems like a ridiculously complicated way of solving a problem that doesn't really exist if you ask me!

Could be a touch more agressive too, sure it's slightly longer, lower and slacker than the SB95 was, but only marginally where others have moved on more IMO.

Would love a go on one, but won't be rushing to sell my merely very expensive Evil Following for this hideously expensive Yeti!

Errrr. No.
For a start, Switch isn't VPP.
Secondly, the patent on VPP expires this year anyway so do you honestly think Yeti would go through the huge expense of developing a new system to avoid a patent that will have no exclusivity in a minute anyway?

Having had a DW Link bike, then a SB66 with switch and now an SB6 with SI, I can say it is truly awesome to ride. The rear end tracks over anything and it fires out of corners like a bullet. And dead simple to service.

I'll be all over a demo of this if you get one into the shop Pigyn, just out of curiosity of course, and keeping my options open in case that orange thing does break 😀

The original bearings seized after four months (in context thats was over 1000km of riding in Scottish conditions) as they were sealed for the US dust. Yeti replaced them under warranty with proper EnduroMax bearings and now nae problems.

Fair sized coincidence as guess what I've spent most of this evening building for a customer!

Rather nice it is too...

You know if we get a demo it would have to be a medium Doug 😀 Or perhaps a medium and a large, then one could stay with me to free up space in the shop.

I have seen that Pyga Stage Max and the shorter Stage as well, both look good.

Nice, but pricey.
Suspension in general must be pretty sorted these days, so it must be something special for that kind of money.

Anyone keen to grab one of the first SB45c bikes available in the UK..... I have one available for sale right now at a knock-down price, having just entertained the Yeti crew from Colorado and some journalists out in the Alps for days last week, they left me with their fleet of demo bikes which were all brand new / unused at the start of the week.

Check out my ad in the For Sale section....
