Ok so I am finally committing to a new Yeti SB100 with Fox SC fork. The question is the rest of the build. Not a fan of sram and all the bikes in the house run XT 11 speed so a stock build seems out of the window so I thought the following:
Hunt wheels-any one tried these yet. Seem good value and weight pay off.
XT 11 speed with sun race 11-50 cassette. Anyone tried this combo.
XT 4 pot brakes-are they worth the upgrade.
Race face 35mm bars and stem
Raceface dropper-which I have.
Raceface carbon SIXc cranks which I have but am unsure these work on the boost frame so might need something else other than RF.
Has anyone ridden the SB100 as I am hopefully trying one soon but am always between a Medium and large.
Cheers guys
On the brake front I’ve heard there’s little point upgrading from the new Deore level 4 pot brake to the XT one.
Cant comment on the rest much - other than to say so far my Hunt road disc wheels seem nice. Depending on budget though I’d personally think about DT Swiss / Hope hubs with DT Swiss rims. That’s what my next mtb wheels are going to be.
Just to say Sram gx 11 speed has been great for me so far. Ran it standard for 14 months and have just changed the chain and the new x1 has just meshed perfectly. I put it down to the totally steel cassette which isn’t even that heavy either.
Ive got the Xt 4 pots and they are excellent. Handle 15 minutes plus of descending in 25c heat, wet weather, bleed easily etc. They are worth the upgrade over Deore as you can’t put Deore on a yeti is is simply not the done thing.
Cheers guys
I thought that would be the case with the XT.
I will have a look at the DT Swiss in terms of costs and weight.
The Deore level brakes don’t actually say Deore on them if that helps with the brake snobbery? 😜
I’m lining up Hope Pro 4 hubs front and rear with DT Swiss xm481 but on more of a cross country thing you could go 25mm internal diameter and something lighter but still tubeless. Build is up with light double butted spokes. I’m planning to build my own and I think it’ll one in about £380 ish.
