Hello guys. I apologise if I'm asking a well trodden question.

I have a budget of £2,000. Looking at seciond hand, mainly will be using the bike for trials (cannock etc) and general thrashing.
Which of those would you choose? They're the 4 that I've narrowed my search down to. Any better suggestions welcvome though!

Thanks in advance.

I've just ordered a Commencal meta v4, buy direct, and get brand new for under 2 grand.

Yeti's are good but the had an issue with cracking the swingarm so for me that would put me off buying them secondhand

For less than 2k you could get a really nice Commencal Meta AM/SX V3 which wiuld be virtually bomb proof and a blast downhill while still being as good as the rest going back up the hill

Confused by that comment, given the recent reviews of the 575.

Why not buy brand spankers? £2k - Pike, Debonair RCT3, Sram X1.... you'd be bonkers not to.

Stretch your budget and you'll get a brand new Mondraker Foxy, by far and away the best trail bike around IMO. Another to consider is the Cube Stereo 140 HPA for £2.2k you get a brand new bike with a pike, reverb, mostly X0 drivetrain and sram guide brakes. Unbelievable package for the money.

That Canyon is monster value! I have a NukeProof Mega (Deville's, Crossmax, Zee, Reverb, etc) in fantastic condition (it's a 26 tho!) which I'm going to see. Email in profile if you're interested (it'll be a chunk less than your budget..)

Otherwise, all fine bikes. Whichever you choose, you'll have a bast!

I've just bought a Capra AL2 for under £2k. Granted I have to wait 12 weeks but with that spec and price I'd have waited 6 months!

My money would be on that stealth black Canyon Spectral ?
Great spec for the money, and looks frickin awesome!

Also, search for the recent thread on Canyon being circa 15% cheaper when bought in Euros on the continent due to current exchange rates. Either someone you know in Europe or a cheap easyjet could save you a few hundred quid!

Whyte T130
Keep an eye out for places selling off the old shape Orange 5's.
But that Canyon looks nice.

Had a mega tr275 pro since October, it really is very good. Odd size though, I went large at 5'10" and glad I did.

Out of those, the Canyon, no contest.

Out of the others second hand, possibly the Orange I'd consider, but that's it.

I'd be intrigued to try one of the new Meta's as I liked my old one, but it was a heffer.

I do like the look of the YT industries capra.

The Canyon I can get for £300 less if I get my German friend who I work with to bring me one back next time he goes home.

If you had to pick between the Canyon and the YT which would it be?

Are the Rock Shox forks that come on them both any good?

A secondhand like, santa cruz bronson with the trimmings on eBay or something?

I mean shit, for 2k you can have any bike you want that someone bought, rode twice and realised they couldnt afford.

Yeah, I'd still rather a brand spankers bike with a warranty. The difference between XT and XTR, or SRAM X1 and XX1 is generally bragging rights.

Decent kit, with a warranty is much better.

Plus, who wants a bike with stupid short geometry? 😉

You need to factor in the long delivery times for the spectral above. They're up to August in some sizes

The commencal is a lovely looking bike

Yes maybe it's a bit heavier than some others, but I think people put too much importance on weight, if it rides well you're not going to notice a few extra pounds

That's where my money would be going. Good looking bike, and more individual than some of the other choices

The canyon is a great spec, but that stupid top tube.. It's not a looker

You mean the Commencal with Sram X7, X-Fusion rear shock and heavy OEM wheels? That over the Canyon with a Pike, Debonair, X1, SRAM Roam wheels... because it doesn't look quite a nice?

The reason I normally go second hand is because you get more for your money (normally). Like this Nomad for 2k...

I agree, the Canyon is better spec'd. I think it's a toss up between that and the Capra tbh.

The 140mm Canyon & a 160/165/170mm Capra are very different bikes.

Unless you're racing, or using it to smash out DH runs as well as everything else, the shorter travel bike will be the faster, more fun bike.

Plus it probably won't crack, unlike the Capra...

Either spend a bit more, £2500, and there are loads of new bikes with decent specs - or for half that you'll get a decent 26" FS.

I agree about the top tube on the Canyon.
Looks like it's been ridden into a brick wall.

Tr275 is a phenomenal bike... I'm also 5'10" like wrightyson but have a medium and wouldn't want the large...
It's head and shoulders above the 2012 orange 5 it replaced in every way..
