So I tracked down the annoying creak in my frame:

To be fair the frame doesn't owe me anything - I bought at a great price from a very kind user on this forum, and got several years of bike-packing and racing abuse out of it.
Now, as I'm a poor underemployed MTB racer, looking for another deal on a 29er frame. Was looking at this generic Chinese frame on eBay - it's pig ugly but is cheap.
Normally I'd look at what's on sale from On One, but I'm currently based in the US.
Any ideas? What's the go-to Chinese frame on eBay nowadays?
Do you have a budget? Are you looking for 142x12 specifically?

Some people are pleased with their BXTs but it seems to carry all the general Chiner disadvantages and, as you say, it's fugly. It's not that light either. For a bit more you could get something that at least /looks/ nice 😀
Last summer I bought an eBay carbon frame (same as Tideace M009) that cracked on the first ride (on the top tube too). I DIY repaired it and since then it's been great since. I wouldn't go with eBay again though. Rather contact companies directly (Hong Fu, Deng Fu, TanTan, ..) based on what you like.
Budget: As cheap as poss. Say under US$400. Quite a bit under if poss.
Rear: 135x10 if poss - otherwise I _think_ I can upgrade the axel on my DT240s to 142
I'll check those three manufacturers - thanks.

How much is postage from on one to America ?
It sounds like you hammer your bikes. Do you really want to try untested carbon?
