You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This is for my hack bike (paradoxically riding it more at the moment) but I have to finally write off the Racing Ralph - it's getting to threadbare to seal and seems to have torn next to the bead anyway.
OH has also been riding a wornout WTB OEM that had no grip when new and similarly the threads are showing through. At best she might ride something more CX than XC but really I'll end up buying 2x something - she might never ride again after lockdown???
All my other tyres are wide, grippy, slow rolling (DHF/DHR and MM/HD)
I'm not overly fussed on grippiest or absolute lightest but just want to go out for some exercise that for me includes 10-20 miles of roads to get there and back then riding gorse and thorns so tubeless.
I was looking at the Vittoria Mezcal (spelled incorrectly) on Planet-X for a tenner but no indication of if its tubeless and the supplier code doesn't exist on the Vittoria site... but prefer not going too expensive per tyre.
Spesh slaughter.
Mezcal is a good rear. Get the TNT one for the tougher sidewall.
Edit - the planet x one isn't it unfortunately.
How about something in the specialized sale? A grid fast trak if they have it?
BArzo/Mezcal is a combo I imagine would work well. I run 29x2.6 Barzo’s from R2-bikes both ends.
Wore my RR out on my hardtail and wanted something cheap(ish), stronger sidewalls and fast rolling so went with a Smart Sam Performance Double Defense for just over £20...not the lightest but ticks my needs perfectly and went up easy tubeless
Spesh slaughter.
Just put one on the rear of my enduro bike...got the grid version cheap from Spesh direct. Easy tubeless and rolls well
I have a Butcher on the front so just got 2x Purgatory @ £17.50 each.
Thanks everyone...
Well, that was unexpected.
Back to square 1...
I got refunded to Paypal today without any communication from Specialized...
The tyres are now £42 rather than £17 and after this dirty trick I'm not feeling like lining their pockets and ordering at full price especially as I was most interested because of the price.
