Finally got round to building the bike I received last weekend, a few donated parts from Whyte but mainly new parts from sales. Was hoping to get out today but the weather has been gash so looks like Sunday for a test on some Lakeland Hills ride report later

Nice bike.

Very interested in these, they seem excellent value.

Let us know how you get on. 🙂

Could have used a blue cable tie for the front cables, so no, I dont approve 🙂

Classy looking build.

Butcher on the back with a fast looking tyre on the front. Looks like the other way round would make more sense?

Rangers do actually work reasonably well. They are very unconventional looking tread though!

Had one on the rear in the dry.
No way would that go anywhere near the front of any of my bikes at this time of year.

Very nice - Alpkit are based just up the road, it was had enough when they only had headtorches and t-shirts to tempt me

I have got a 3.0 Dirt Wizard to put on the front when I have time but the Rangers are fine on rock and they are cheap not much mud around here as for the Butcher its well grippy for climbing and a decent price I am not a downhill hooligan only tyre I have not slashed around the local trails

Yes. Very nice.
Right now: great, great time to buy parts and frames and forks.
February is bike building heaven!

Have fun!
And yes - better swap front and back tyres...

That front tyre would terrify me down in the Pennines, ok in the Lakes I guess! My 2.8 Magic Mary up front is a winter plus tyre lifesaver 😉

Never really like the look of the sonders before but that looks nice especially with the stealth helm fork. The front tire scares me as well.

Looks sweet - really interested in an Evol too. What size is your frame, how tall are you and leg length? How do you find the standover clearance? And have you ridden it yet - first impressions?Sorry for all the questions! Cheers

First ride impressions are that its probably the best bike I have put together rode like a dream today a fair few PBs on tecky rocky downhills! there was no protective riding due to it being a new bike! The "worn" trye was a pleasure to point downhill it slammed into most things that got in the way on the trail.
31 miles and 7000ft plus of climbing it really did get a thrashing the only thing that let it down was a slow reverb.
I,m Mr average 5ft 10 32 leg and I was on a large route was Wansfell Jenkins Coffin Trail
Alcock Tarn Grasmere Loughrigg Summit Elterwater Lingmoor Clappersgate Troutbeck

Nothing worse than a sub optimal garage door operation.

Bloody hell rich..... You actually get to ride in real "screen saver" scenery!👍

Sounds like you and the bike are ready for for a few adventure over the year to come.

Enjoy!
