You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
i have a 130mm Yari (2017) on my Bird Zero TR. Weighing around 12.5 stone I have it set at 75psi which seems to work sag wise but I rarely, if at all, get the last 20mm of travel. Looks like it comes setup with 3 tokens, so have just ordered an EpicBleed 24mm spanner to have a play with tokens.
Any advice ?
Ger rid of some tokens and air.
The MoCo damper gives the Yari a more progressive spring rate than Charger damper equipped forks. I'm running no tokens and still had to dump a few psi out of mine at BPW last weekend as I was still short of 25mm-ish travel. Was at 22-26% sag, now 30%. Loads better after that.
Fancy a Luftkappe next.
I echo the remove tokens advice. Went from 3 to 1 and if I still had the fork would’ve tried it with none - 160mm travel version.
Thanks, will go down to 1 and see how it goes
I am 14st, running (I think) 90psi and 1 token.
It came with three in, and two spare, but I found it was OK on smaller bumps but ramped up quickly so I did not get full travel unless *battering* into things. Removing down to one needs a nudge more compression damping, but it is a much more fluid fork now.
matt, good to know, we ride similar stuff. Will drop down to one next week once I get the spanner. Off to Feshiebridge for the weekend with Riderz tomorrow....
Interesting to read this as I've had similar thoughts about my 130 Yari. Not sure how many tokens are in but I've ordered a socket so I can investigate.
I’m on a 160mm Yari and I’m about 12 stone, not sure what pressure is in there at the moment - maybe around 70 psi.
My fork came with 2 tokens and I’ve taken them both out and I’m still not seeing the last 20 / 25mm of travel. Not sure I want to take much more air out as they already feel fairly soft / I think sag is around 30%. Running compression damping wide open.
Thinking about getting a charger damper for the fork or maybe a Yari Up fast damper. Funds not allowing it at the moment though.

the online manual suggest they come with 3, and 2 spare in a bag. Will see when I open mine up !
I'm running the 150mm 29er Yari, got 80psi in and 1 token. Weigh 11 stone.
Did have 70psi and 2 tokens, but feels much better now. Still plush, and utilising most of the travel on big hits.
An extra thought on this - that last 20mm of travel I only reach on drop-offs and jumps*, most of the time I am getting like 90% of the travel, and now happy with that. More importantly, the fork is more linear and fluid overall..

*check out teh gnarlz, bro.
95kg and running no tokens. Always had travel left over even when running softer than I would have liked. Turned compression damping up a couple of clicks for more support on slow steep stuff. Feels much better on slow and fast stuff.
great info, thanks. Will go down to one token initially. I have the compression damping just on the fast side of halfway, so will keep an eye on that too.
Update - the spanner arrived from EpicBleed and I took 2 tokens out earlier, leaving 1 in. I upped the pressure a little to 80 psi to get around 25-27% sag. Took it for a spin at Cathkin and was using all bar the last 10mm of travel, so pretty happy with that. I reckon I’d bottom it easily on a big hit.
Thanks for all the info and advice.
Happy days...
Cheers matt, thanks for the help.
Tftuned have the fast-suspension damper, I think it's £130 (not the more expensive Yari up)
I have a similar novyparts one and it's made more of a difference than fitting a luftkappe.
Plusher, more grip, uses all of the travel without feeling divey
Got a linky to that - can only see the Yari Up.
It's this. (Google translate is yet friend)
I emailed tf and they had some in stock a couple of weeks ago
