As title suggests I have some bits and pieces to put on a new frame including 120mm Yari forks. Was looking at Onza Jackpot frame. Will this work or will I die? Guessing the head angle will be a fraction steeper and the BB a hair lower but will it translate into a terrible ride? Cheers

The head angle on the the Jackpot is pretty steep at 68 degrees for a modern hardtail, when sagged with a 150mm fork it's going to be around 70 degrees. With a 120mm fork sagged the front of the bike would be about 22mm lower than the design. So the head angle is going to be heading towards 71.5 degrees sagged. Not a good idea.

Depends on what you want I think.

The Onza website shows full builds with 150mm Revs, and the geo charts[1] give the head tube angle at 68 degrees, which I assume is static/unsagged -- so it's probably more like 69 degrees with a rider aboard.

How much that'll change with a 120mm Yari depends on the axle-to-crown length of the 150mm Revs v.s. 120mm Yari. But it's probably going to make it at least another degree or so steeper, giving you 70 degrees(ish) with the Yari.

I've just retired a 26er Soul which was at 70 degrees sagged with a 100mm fork. It wasn't a bad bike by any means, and I loved riding it. But I very much appreciate a slacker head angle on my newer hardtail (along with a lot more reach).

It probably won't be "a terrible ride" but it will feel twitchier at higher speed, and threaten to send you out the front door more readily on steep bits of trail.

Yari have a longer axle to crown than Revs for a given travel. Exact numbers are on Rochshox website.

Thanks for the replies. Going with the airshaft option.

Yeah, I’d just stick a longer airshaft in that. £42 for a debonair 2019 one and it doesn’t take that long to do as long as you have the right grease and lower leg lube. Maybe try to put in new foam rings at the same time to freshen it up.
