Afternoon all,

REALLY not getting on with my Crank Bros Candy 2s so looking to swap over to some Shimano SPDs.

Just wondering what you guys are using out of the XTR PD-M980 and M985s (with the bigger sole plate)?...

I ride a lot of XC with some AM stuff, so just wondering if the slighty bigger and heavier M985s are really worth it?

Cheers

I really rate my set of Trail spd's - I can really feel the extra contact and for me are better than spd's without the plate. Couldn't say that I notice the weight difference at all!

Love my xtr's so much I bought a second pair for the hardtail
Much better to use than the normal spd's and the dx platform spd's they replaced
I no longer get a hotspot on the sole of my foot after an hours riding easy to locate and clip into (better than the DX's) and offer just enough support for not to technical riding when unclipped (I could use them with normal trainers on my commute without much difficulty if I really wanted to)

So you'd definitely go for the Trail set over the Race set?

The Trail set aren't that bulky are they, only thing potentially putting me off...
