Is there any difference (except for the chainrings) between an XTR M985 double and triple chainset, i.e. are the cranks arms the same?

Thanks

Top of my head there are some diffs,
26/38 (M980) have the same bolt circle diameter (BCD) as normal cranks.
and the xtr triple I believe,
where the bigger 28/40 + size have a diff BCD to other cranks.

Also the chain line is a little diff between them.
look on Shimano website in tech docs, (fitting instructions, info should be there.)

Apart form that the construction is the same as far as I know.

Yep, 88mm BCD on the larger ring doubles, 64mm on the smaller ones, standard 64/104mm on the triples.

Different chainline, and the q-factor is narrower on the doubles - shorter axle I assume.

It's a different shaped spider/arm njee, I was hoping to solve my chainring hitting the chainstay problems by swapping chainsets, to no avail.

Using 1.5mm spacer at the moment, I wish I could get an XTR chainset with a 5mm longer axle. Hoping the new E13 TRSr chainsets will help whne they're out in March.

Jeff Steber, if I ever meet you I'm going to make you eat my chainset.
