I have a set of these brake levers and I'm thinking that it might be useful to alter the exit angle of the brake hose. Currently, it's at 45 degrees (see below)

Ideally, I'd like it to either exit downwards or along the line of the handlebars. This is to make fitting a Revelation Design "Sweet Roll" handlebar bag less of a strain on the hoses.
I was wondering if anyone had success fitting a 90 degree "Banjo" bolt to give me the exit downwards or knew of an angled hose coupling.
I use 90 degree banjo bolts on Hope brakes and a Jones loop bar for the reason you want to.
Works a treat with the Hopes can't see why it wouldn't with Shimano.

I'll have a look at a few spare hoses/bolts/bangos i've got in the garage tomorrow and see what fits.
As long as the hollow bolt through the middle of the banjo's the right thread it should work ok.
This might be an opportunity to try another model/brand of lever but I hate Elixirs and The Maguras/Formulas seem to have similar hose routing to the Shimanos.
That might just leave Hope (gulp!) - or I go BB7
Bump for the dayshift thinkers....
What about a hose kit to fit the original 4-pot XT brakes from the late 90's?
They had 90 degree banjo bolts. Might work - I'm sure shimano have always used the same thread size and pitch on levers, so they might be cross compatible?!
Just a thought!

Nope Shimano Banjo bolts wont work as they are a smaller thread diameter, as I'd thought about doing this too in the past.
Could you change to longer hoses and have them going in front of the bag, rather than behind it?
