My XTR M970 bottom bracket has play in it, how do I tighten it up please - I have no idea!

M970 cranks have a little preload ring on the left hand crank arm. It has a small pinch bolt.
You can try adjusting it ,

Once the main bolt is tightened, rotate the knurled ring behind the crank to take up any slack.
