Used one and it does not click down two gears when you press hard using your index finger like the 10 speed, it only does it with your thumb. I use this operation a lot and cannot understand why Shimano have not carried it across to both finger and thumb lever on the 11 speed.
Rear mech is the same, multiple shifts only in one direction.
Did the front mechs ever do multiple downshifts?
Yep, did they call it "vivid indexing" ?
you have a front mech?
I must admit to being slightly confused as I really can't think of a situation where I'd want to go from the big ring (40T) to the small ring (22T) in one go.
I didn't think XTR even came in 3x but a quick check of the internet reveals it does. I'd have thought though that 24-34 at the front and 11-42 (if you use the new XT cassette) would get you everything you could need.
I used to always double shift by mistake if I pulled with my finger, but always got the shift I wanted pushing with my thumb. Guess I wasn't alone, and so they ditched the double shift with the finger.
What is a 'front mech'? Sounds antiquated.
FFS - just click twice, you lazy swine.
