As the title, do XT M785 have a noticeable platform, tried DXs, wasn't convinced the platform actually offered any support.
Nope - sod all. Am sure it's only there for looks or to protect the pedal from bashes. DXs were much more platformy..
Easier to find and clip into than M780's, but no real platform effect. I like them though, have tried DX's in the past and didn't get on with them as found they were too hard to clip in and out of.
Nope, the platform is completely non existent.
CB Mallet if you want something meaningful. The DH I struggled to unclip with but the normal Mallet seems about spot on.
Shame about the bearings being rubbish, but hey, you get good at pedal rebuilds 🙂
They give lateral support (noticeably more than M780s) but not fore and aft - if using with stiff enough soles then you don't need that. If you run softer shoes, then you need a full platform pedal.
As above....yes they do have a decent platform albeit a small one, but you only get the benefit if you use the right shoes. M089, M163, M200 all have two rectangular blocks that run either side of the cleat area which are designed to rest on the small platform part of the m785 pedals. In my experience they work really well together but need to be set up quite precisely as theres not much float.
