[Closed] XT M780 crank on a road bike - will it work?

Rather than fit a replacement road chainset (50/34T), I'm tempted to move across the XT M780 crank from my MTB.

Assuming I can fit 104 BCD rings - e.g. 48T outer - am I missing any no-go issues?

I'd be using a 105 5700 front shifter and mech, fitted to a Cotic Escapade with a 68mm BB shell.

Thanks 🙂

Nasty chainline - you'll need an MTB front mech - the 105 won't reach far enough unless you modify it. It'll fit though.

Thanks. I do happen to have an XT M770 front mech lying around, if that would work?

Yep, as long as the fitting is right an M770 mech will work.
