I know there are no steel pedal inserts but are the non-drive side splines steel or aluminium?

I'm not sure, I know LX have a steel axle, I wouldn't be suprised if Saint had steel splines, but I got the answer I needed.

all the shimano axles are steel (maybe not XTR I guess).
the crank arms are alu, though.
