Do M770 chainrings fit onto XT M760 chainsets.

The middle chain ring sticks out (or rather in) a bit more round the mounting holes, so possibly not. Haven't tried though, but I know one won't fit on my old Octalink set. I haven't bothered to get the dremmel out yet to fix that. Inner and outer *should* be ok though.
