Anyone know what size these are?

not so simple as a thread size, the thread is wider than the remaining section of the pin.

Ah, didn't realise you could buy the real thing individually (assumed that Shimano brakes = no spares).

Cheers for the link!

M4 I think, I tapped out Elixir 1's to use the same bolt.

Slightly related...

The pad retaining bolts come with XT brakes as standard. On SLX and Deore brakes they come with bendy clips (the clips are supplied with every new set of Shimano pads).

I found that the SLX caliper can accept the threaded bolt too but the Deore M615 caliper's don't and so must use the bendy clips.

Incidentally I prefer the threaded bolt as I can always find an allen key but I can't always find a pliers to straighten the clip.

Not sure I've ever used for pliers to straighten the bendy clip! Edge of a multitool or tyre lever work perfectly

Its M4 X 0.7 . The SLX my well be tapped but Deores aren't. They are in my fleet now and an XT pin looks so much nicer and easier to change too.

Thanks Dibbs... tip of my tongue that. Split pins, ta. bendy clips 🙂

Of course they both work. It's just personal preference to use the retaining bolts instead. Personally I find the split pins a faff. I much prefer the retaining bolt.
