Just went to go out on the bike and both Xt brake lever have are sticking mid position or close to the bars and not returning. I know the rear could have done with a bleed but this is weird. Front one is locking the wheel but the lever is still not returning to it's normal position. Both were working fine when I put the bike in the garage, and i'd not think it's that cold that the lever could be frozen with water from it's post ride swill.
Any ideas?
they are both knackered.. possibly
the piston inside the lever seizes. My rear XT did that. You can push them back out apparently, i didn't manage it. You also run there risk of it failing again while you're out and about
try a bleed incase there is water in the system and its frozen.. would be interested to know what happens!
If under two years old send them back, it's a common issue, seals swell levers stick.
3 years old, sounds like replacing them is the simple and better long term option, doh!
Cheers ppl
Not sure if you're guilty of this but many people spray GT85/WD40 on and around their lever thinking its good for them. Yes it might clean them and displace water but it can often cause rubber seals to swell and stick.
