Bought some 2nd hand cranks but they came with no washers..
Do I need some ?
Advice appreciated:)
Yes and no. Many pedals (SPDs for example) have built in washers - a nice smooth circular face. Others dont. The washers wont offer anything if the pedal has a nice round end, but if its rough/squared off etc. then a wahser is a good thing.
Thanks Ben, will check nuke proof pedals when the bikes back from warrantee 🙂
Erm, I put them on mine. Only the thin ones, thought it would help me remove them (in case they became stuck)
Had one set of X0 that came with the bike (ex demo) and discovered no washers (likely lost by the shop during frequent pedal swaps). Not been an issue in the 4 years I've been riding it, though that's with Vaults. X0 I bought for my hard tail had the washers which is when I realised they came with them.
Both sets of mine came with thin washers, bike shop told me to use them to ensure no problems with any future warranty claims, something to do with over tightening the pedals
