So the girlfriend has a Specialized enduro 2017, it has these hubs:

  • Rear Hub - Specialized disc, alloy, sealed cartridge bearings, 12x148mm thru-axle, 28h

At the moment it has an XD HUB, strugglering to find the correct standard hub that I can fit to the hub.

Anyideas on the correct freehub to order?

thanks in advance.

Long shot but why not just use sram cassettes?

Sell the sunrace buy a sram. Got to be cheaper and easier than messing about trying to find a compatible free hub to a own brand hub.

The hubs on the lower spec specialized bikes are just generic formula/joytech hubs

Higher spec spesh's use dt swiss internals (but they use the cheaper dt pawl free hub not a dt ratchet one)

As yours looks to be the formula/joytech hub then i would contact spesh UK and formula/joytech and say your shimano free hub has died and can they give you a part number/direct you to where you can buy one

*this.

The GX 1150 10-42 cassette is bulletproof 11spd.  The GX 12spd isn’t quite such good value due to being more expensive and having alloy at the big end.

Whether a conversion freehub is even available isn’t guaranteed but it’s likely £60 or so if it is. If there is no conversion freehub available then it’s a new wheel or rebuild on alternate hub.

Or even just return and exchange?

She wants the 11-50t. Sunrace would still appear to be the cheapest option. She is tight as a ducks arse.

So you’ve got to take into account the £55 (?) for the sunrace plus maybe £60 for a new freehub - assuming you can get one.

Sram GX eagle cassette appears to be £125 - there’s not much overall difference in cost and you get a bigger range / nicer cassette / less hassle.

Sram gx  is 12 speed, her setup is 11 speed. So would end up buying a whole new gear setup.

Sell wrong cassette and buy a smaller front ring and a right cassette...?

Can see why she’d want a 50T cassette on an Enduro, but it may not be straightforward.

I assume that the rest of the drivetrain is SRAM 11 speed, which may not play nicely with a 50 tooth sprocket, that’s before you much about with freehubs.

FWIW, I’d at least swap the cassette for an XD compatible job but check the specs of your rear mech to ensure that it will cope.
